Good Mornings and Dead lifts.
To me they seem like they carry a huge risk of strain on the lower back. What do people do for the lower back other than these? Should i just do those and lower the weight until i feel like its safe?

Get advice on proper form. They are safe if performed correctly but like anything there is always a risk, you just have to minise it.
