Default WTB: Weights VIC

Hey, I'm looking to buy some weights. The heavier the better (20kg or more preferbally, but will consider others).

Condition wise I do not care because they will be used as counterweights for a boxing bag stand, so no matter how banged up or shitty looking they are, chances are I want it lol

Perfect oppurtunity for people looking to upgrade their weights which are looking abit worse for wear to buy new ones.

Since I'm assuming they will be of average condition, I'm hoping I won't get charged a huge amount for them (uni student = poor).

I prefer not to buy brand new as the boxing stand is kept outdoors and would be such a waste to put brand new weights into the elements (and I'm poor).

I'm located in the SE suburbs of VIC but more than happy to travel to buy.

Let me know what you guys have

Cheers.

If you're your not fussed on appearance - fill a large round ice cream tub with quick-dry ready mix cement and put a wet thick piece of 30mm dowel down the middle. When the cement dries - pull out the dowel and you've got a home made plastic coated weight plate.

Obviously the bigger the ice cream tub, the heavier the weight.

Cheap though.

Nice idea, I was thinking of sandbags, but they might not be heavy enough.

Mike.

Amazing idea!! Thanks for that mate!! But the biggest ice-cream container size would be the 5L ones. How heavy do you think that will set?

No idea on weight - I googled it and got more confused.

Of course I can't endorse the idea for use with lifting as it will put me out of business...

Normal concrete has a density of 2,400kg per cubic metre. So it's 2.4kg per litre. Thus, 1lt container = 2.4kg, 5lt container = 12kg, etc. But in the end it doesn't matter, all that matters is that you have a series of weights where each is heavier than the last.

With the concrete you need some rubber matting or something, if you drop the thing on other concrete you may end up with a big pile of rocks

I got a couple of wall brackets, the sort people use to hang bikes or timber, whacked them up on the beam over my garage, voila, chinning bar.

Nah, won't be using them to lift or anything. Will be used as counterweights for a boxing bag stand.

Nah - I usually won't take them if they're too messed up - or I use them myself.

If I come across any though I'll let you know.
