Dont worry about what your friends do. At a recent friends birthday they were all coked out and trying to give me some but i persisted with my rockstar sugar free energy drink lol.

If its something you really want to do then you will stick to it and not find excuses.

I have been 2 years without a drop and i used to drink multiple times a week till i was almost blind.

It can be done if u want to.

With the girlfriend thing, i find not having one helps me at the gym, something to do with redirecting my sexual frustration perhaps. Try it.

As for not drinking when going out with mates, yeah thats a hard one. I usually fall to peer pressure and get wasted. ATM im trying to reduce my social circle to friends who prefere to have LAN parties then go out and get drunk. Working quite well.

Sorry to hear about the break-up.

You definitely don't need to drink to talk to girls. In fact, it's easier to do so while staying sober.

I was at a club the other night, totally sober as I didn't want to compromise my training. It was very easy to talk to girls, since they're scared away by other drunken fools. Had two lovelies accompanied me for most of the night, while watching them fend off hilarious attempts from drunk guys trying to chat them up & buy them drinks. Later on the girls kept trying to buy me drinks, I picked the sugar free energy one.

Some of my friends were there drinking too. Didn't get tempted in the slightest. They didn't try to pressure me either. We're grown-ups, we do what we want.

But my gf just broke up with me. I wanna go out but its hard for me sober.

How do u guys balance it? I've mentally screwed myself because I drink and stress about training but at the same time I'm not gonna meet girls sober in a club
Don`t go to a club.Find something else that you like doing and meet chicks there. You will be in your element and talking will be easier if it is something you are into.
If you aren`t a clubber why would you want a club chick?

I think a selfish approach is necessary when dealing with and getting through life changes like a break-up. Put yourself first, which is good food, hard training, lots of rest and being kind to yourself -- chasing the shiny stuff like getting trashed and wallowing in self pity the next day feels productive for about a week until the self-defeating messages creep in that it's all you deserve. It's easier to avoid that route than get stuck on it.

Peer pressure can suck and sometimes you can say, "No, I don't feel like drinking at the moment," until the cows come home and they still don't listen *laughs*.

There's plenty of dating sites online to meet sober girls. Some girls online are close to being clinically insane, which is a whole other challenge, but there might be some enjoyment in meeting a few for coffee or something outside the club scene.
