Yes,yes,yes!
We need an expert to verify this one way or the other because in my mind a lot of you are talking about being depressed and not about having depression. That couldn`t be bothered and the whole world sucks feeling is depressed. Depression is a whole different kettle of fish. Being depressed = psychological state Having depression = psychological and physiological state |

There is a big difference between just feeling sad and being unmotivated to depression. Depression has a lot of different symptoms not only being down. The sad person feels bad, but continues to cope with living. A person with clinical depression may feel overwhelmed and hopeless.
A person who suffers from a major depressive disorder must either have a depressed mood or a loss of interest or pleasure in daily activities consistently for at least a two week period. This mood must represent a change from the person's normal mood and impair his functioning in his daily life. There are all different types of depression - major depressive disorder, dysthymic disorder, manic depression, SAD, anxiety depression, atypical depression, chronic depression, agitated depression, psychotic depression the list goes on. You have to go see a person who specializes in depression so that you can be treated correctly with the right drugs. A lot of depression is caused due to either a family history or a chemical imbalance in your brain. |

So the results of the fasting blood test came back fine (it didn't say anything about cortisol though). However I spoke with the doctor for quite a bit about my feelings of anxiety and wanting to avoid social interactions (have been avoiding my friends lately, which is unusual for me). Also I have been extremely unmotivated to get anything done - even simple things around the house - I just can't muster up any strength to do it.
He referred me to a counsellor who can give free sessions funded by medicare Counsellors - ReachOut Australia "If your counsellor is a psychologist registered with the Psychologists Registration Board in your State or a clinical psychologist, you may be able to get free sessions with them."

Best of luck with that, Katie. It seems to me that in the end you are an active, open-minded and positive person, so any problems you have will be sorted out fairly quickly by you.
