I'm planning my Xmas holidays

Where are some nice spots to go?

I'm thinking of driving from Sydney to Melb - taking the coastal route on the way there and the inland route on the way back (rockclimbing woo!)

Suggestions of beautiful undiscovered pockets of Australia also welcomed

(let's all make Mattias jealous that he can't wait to move to Australia!!)

I don't know if you have done it before. But I always recommend heading out to Uluru and checking out Central Australia. I once went on a Skateboard tour around Australia and all of us basically wanted to head home on a plane at Adelaide instead of travelling through the middle of Australia to Alice Springs.

It turned out that Central Australia was the highlight of the trip. I highly recommend it.

I did Sydney to Melb via the coast around Easter time, it's a very nice drive.

I do syd to melb coast or inland too much due to touring.

The trip needs to be quicker ffs.

Do something fun, remote dry community or head o/s.

I'd like to go to Thredbo or the blue mountains but the season is gone already?

Blue Mountains??? What does the season matter to go to the Blue Mountains, it's beautiful anytime of year? If you thought you were going to see snow there then you will be dissapointed. It rarely snows there and if it does there are no ski resorts where you can ski so get to the lovely katoomba and see the 3 Sisters, you'll love it.

Well a lump is still there in the 3rd sisters spot, but is it enough to warrant being a sister any more?

compare it to photos from 15-20 years ago. You'll understand.

They aren't made of the sturdiest and most environment resistant rocks.

Oh yeah but it's still there. I guess it's like the 12 Apostles on the coast of Victoria, there's only 10 or 11 left, soon there may only be 9.
