/rant
Im just wanting to see peoples opinions on this and also maybe get a bit more educated on this topic.. (i know debatable) We all work and pay taxes. What i don't get is why should a guy making over pay more taxes than the guy who is bummed around all his life and then pays next to nothing. I literally paid 50k last year in taxes from personal income and have am not eligable for such things as medicare etc. Yet i worked hard to be where i am now professionally. yet u have people who just bum around all their lives yet pay the minimum wage tax bracket and also receive a lot of the benefits which My taxes pay for. There should be a set tax bracket and thats it. If u worked your way up and earnt more then so be it. you shouldnt supporting all the other bums out there who CBF getting off their asses to better themselves.. i dont mind helping out the community etc but some shit irks me a fair bit. My last years tax reuturn was 300 bux.. I mean wtf 300 bux from paying close to 50k in taxes.

hehe... i will just agree completely with you! i wont start my rant.. i just try not to worry about it..
why dont you lease a car or something. i did that and now 9k of my taxes goes to the car per year. much better than it going elsewhere. not much but it helps.

I don't get what you're trying to say, ceffo. (not having a go at you, cos I find this sort of topic interesting too)
You complained about not getting much back from the tax return, the whole point of a tax return is so that (on average) you don't get any money back, right?? because your tax is taken out of your wages anyway. It's true that we have an increasing tax scale (ie. the more you earn, the higher your marginal rate of tax is), but ultimately you still take home more than someone who is on less pay than you...

no need to apologise, as I said I wasn't having a go at you
just intrigued to know what your rant was... were you applying for medicare (post 1) or a health care card (post 5)?

Ceffo,
Don't feel to bad, if you're paying a lot of tax, you're obviously making good money ![]() Anyway, your taxes are going towards great causes such as the $1600 insulation scheme, that was a well thought out and policed plan wasn't it... ![]() Hit up the negative gearing a bit more maybe? Do you have a good accountant? I'm sorting myself out next year and appointing Nick Moustakis from Strategic Wealth Management, maybe you've heard of him. Time to sort out some structure to reduce tax, improve cashflow, protect assets and leverage heavilly. |
