Yeah. I hear you need something to hold onto when you do chin up's....a bit like you need power to keep the computer chuggin' along

Hmm interesting questions. It's been quite long since i've done serious deadlifts, about 4 months now.
Do you mean for specific back work after deads, or generally exercise selection? The dl is pretty taxing. Probably one of the most taxing lifts you could do (if doing it right). What have you normally done in the past?

Sorry for the delayed response. I am investing in a chin-up bar so will alternate deadlifts and pull/chin-ups.
In the past I've never tried deadlifting, just clean pulls and snatch pulls when I was competing. Before those days I didnt understand the benefits associated with such lifts. If only we knew then what we know now. |

oh i see. lately i've learned some new cool exercises, such as clean/snatch deadlifts, 1&2 pull snatch/cleans. I'm lookin' forward to see what you do!! Do you prefer chin up's or pull up's ?

I like doing wide-grip chin-ups. But in the past I've mixed it up with different variations.
One that comes to mind is to place your hands shoulder width apart with a pronated grip. Pull your chin to the bar as normal, as your body continues to move up let go and catch yourself with a supinated grip. Continually alternating between these. Can be quite difficult but it is fun to try.

sounds fun. i don't have the setup at either gym to try them, both pull up / chin up stations are built into cable machines, which prevents that quick movement.

Contemplating entering a local bodybuilding competition in 2011 so I have a bigger picture to work towards.
Does anyone on this forum compete?
