i spoke with my coach & he said it's possibly illiotibial band syndrome. Based on the research that i've done, it sounds right.

What do you mean when you were 'OW' ?

hey....

Quick update while i can...

Monday's workout was really good. i worked closely with senior lifters while the coach was running late. They inspired a lot of confidence in me in terms of really letting my legs do a lot of the work. Especially in the snatch balance & jerk starts...They also gave me some good mental cues on what happens with my feet when doing the snatch, the jerk & the general back squat.

Snatch balance
40 x 3 x 6

Jerk Starts
62.5 x 3 x 6

Jerk from the racks
45 x 3 x 6

Clean Pulls
70 x 3 x 7

Unable to do squats due to a tight my ITS, i've done a lot of stretching over the weekend, so i feel i could do some squats tonight.

I'm looking forward to my session tonight. I'm not sure if i'll be ready for the april comp. If i do it, it'll be more like a normal training day & nothing serious (i wont even worry about what weight class i'm in).

I had an extremely short session yesterday, due to running slightly late after work & the gym being used for some sport science students from the local college

Hang Snatch
35 x 3 x 6

Hang Clean
42.5 x 3 x 6

That's it!! I'm still really struggling with the mental aspect of the lifting. I was saying to my coach & a few of the other fella's, that it's frustrating, that i know what to do & when to do it, but the application isn't as easy. I know to apply maximum push with my legs when it comes to starting the snatch & at what point to bend my arms & when to squat...i'm just having trouble actually doing it, to the point where i'm satisfied. The clean's feel more natural to me than the snatch.

i'll just have to keep at it. After years of training at a slow'ish pace, i just have to re-wire my brain to work quicker

Does your coach stay with you for your entire workout, he must costs a fair bit per session?

its all about practice. get a broom stick or barbell and just do rep after rep. you could do that as cardio/conditioning. do it everyday, have it lying around the house and just pick it up at random times and pump out a few snatches.

My coach doesn't stand by my side for the entire workout. He's quite attentive to my needs (that being i'm a complete spaz when it comes to OW) & watches when i do the major lifts such as snatches, cleans & jerks. but not so much to pull's, squats & G GPP.

It's a small club anyway...there's usually only about 8 people training at once

Now you really got my curiosity up PB! Are you listing the set first or the reps? I see clean pulls above at 70kg x 1 x7.

It's always better/easier for all to write the weight followed by set then rep. So it's 70kg 7x1 or 1x7, that's why I'm confused now. Because weightlifters do not do 7 reps and certainly not 1 set of 7, nor would they do 7 sets of 1. Please help me out here PB, I mean it!
