Hey all
just wondering what sort of prep is the norm going into a comp, I dont care what I weigh, i am just interested in lifting. But training wise, how close to the day am I still maxing out my lifts, or should I be taking it easy, how many days off before hand etc, Any advice on a typical plan or aproach would be great.

Have a look at the link below, I ran it comming into the NSW State Titles and Matt ran it into the Nationals with good results. I think that Brendon may have also run it in the lead up to Battle of the Gyms. Possibly at the end of week 4 or start of week 5 work up to an openning attempt to gauge where you should start at on comp day.
Best of luck. Edit: won't post a link without 15 posts bullshit. Google Sheiko and have a look on EliteFTS I should list the 5 week comp cycle, that is the probgram I am talking about. |

For myself, i usually do my opening squat and bench 1 week out from comp day for a single or a double.
Opening deadlift around 1.5-2weeks out from comp day for a single. then after that in the last week leading up to comp day i usually just do some light/moderate squats/bench/deadlifts to get some blood into my muscles during that last week. Last easy training session Wednesday for Comp on a Saturday. my 2cents |
