Ptc Sydney - Whats been happenin

I think it's a bit of a wank, really. There are enough assistance exercises that the potential short-comings of either are not a factor with smart programming. If someone comes in and has the mobility to squat high bar correctly and prefers it - I have no issue with them using high bar. As I...

Ptc Sydney - Whats been happenin

I'm not Trent (obviously :P), but as I run the workshops figured I could answer some q's. Trent teaches new guys high bar, I prefer to teach low bar to beginners. I have no issues with high bar provided the mobility to do it correctly is present, I just find this very rare. High bar - as low...

Does your gym life have an effect on your relationships?

Stop drinking > realise that those around you act idiotically when drinking > cannot wait to go back to drinking ? I find the culture around alcohol absolutely mind boggling.

    PTC LIfting workshops

18.3.12 will be the bench, 25.3.12 will be the squat. Sunday mate, gym is too busy on a Saturday to host workshops with all the new members joining up. If you are catching the train in and/or home double check that the lines run, if I remember correctly Sunday can be a bit slow for trains.

The next three weeks will go ahead as normal :D Attendance has dropped off fairly significantly, just wondering if people would like something different.

    PTC LIfting workshops

I'll be using the remainder of this cycle (deadlift, bench and squat) to assess continued interest in the workshops. I'll post up details for the deadlift workshop tomorrow, but in the meantime is there any feedback on what you guys want at these? After all, they are for you! Cut out Oly...

    Bumper plates

I've not used them personally. Pendlay has enough faith in them to think they are on par/better than the Eleikos - for a lot less money. I've heard nothing but good things overall, initial product batches I believe had an issue with the centre hub not being 100% but that got sorted a while...

    Bumper plates

Muscle Driver Australia stocks the Pendlay range of gear. Warehouse is an hour or two drive from Sydney iirc, for those looking to minimise postage.

    opinions on "lean gains"

I've been trying it out for a few weeks (obviously too little time to comment with any real weight). My experience thus far has been okay. I get reasonably hungry as the day progresses, so I haven't experienced the lack of hunger thing as advertised by leangains. In general I have one meal...

Does your gym life have an effect on your relationships?

I can chat with people just fine, I find it hard to befriend those who don't care for physical activity because it is a large part of my life and what I prefer to do. Hard to bridge the gap when their fav past time is clubbing/drinking and mine is squatting. I've not had a great number of...

    Glimpse of my mortality

I agree with this in the sense that if your are sensible, you radically reduce your chances of anything going pear shaped - you can't account for everything though. All it takes is one cager to open their door on you, change lanes without looking as you are riding past, etc. If you can live...

    Smolov Squat Questions

My advice would be that at 140kg 1RM you (probably) don't need to utilise something as 'extreme' as smolov to progress.

    PTC LIfting workshops

Some good squatting today. Leo, at 68kg, did 90kg for 3 and missed 100kgx1. If he can sort out his depth he will get it easily. Previously had not squatted more than 60kg. Peter has a lot of homework to do re: mobility to get his position where it needs to be, and spent some quality time on...
