    Fixed that for you

How long do you train for in the gym?

I've recently started taking two shakes to the gym. One I sip on during breaks in my squat work sets, the other I take after workout. I only do this because squats take fucking ages atm.

How long do you train for in the gym?

There are plenty of people who have full time work, family obligations etc. All about priorities at the end of the day, same as anything else.

How long do you train for in the gym?

Anywhere from 2-3 hours for me. No idea on my total at the moment, my squat pb right now is 227.5 Mick, personally it's because the recovery between sets takes me 5+ minutes at times. When you are doing high intensity sets (as in % 1RM) you need to rest. My warmup alone when done thoroughly is...

PTC Sydney - New gym pics

Weird contraption that you wind up to basically put you in the splits.

    Training Partners

Have never had a training partner. Never seen the need, a power rack has spotter bars and I leave the collars off when I bench in case I need to offload it.

British Weightlifting Documentary – Girl Power, Going For Gold

Was worth the watch just to see that balcony bikini part. Zoe Smith is a fox. I think Zoe is the strongest competitor (mentally) out of the three, I found her struggles in the kitchen (inbeforewomanjoke) frustrating though. You're trying to compete at the Olympics! Shut up about not being able...

    Open top vs closed racks

Is space an issue? The HPRSP is a big rack, and both will require space outside of the rack to allow for deadlifting (due to the brace bars at the bottom). There is an HPRSP rack at PTC Syd, and I like the construction - very sturdy. I do not use it because the J hooks are ridiculously high and...

    Show us your Home Gym

I'll be getting ordering some rings soon. Awesome for dips and pullups. Can't believe how expensive wooden ones are though! One day I might even be able to do an iron cross... aboycandream.jpg

Strong doesn't have to be ugly.

Skeptical hippo is skeptical about the plates used on that squat lol

    Program for intermediate/advanced lifter.

I wouldn't mind a look, although I've still got six weeks of smolov to squat through.

    Front Squats: Barbell vs. Kettlebell.

If you cannot rack the bar with a clean grip I would suggest trying the crossed arm method (as suggested) or alternatively, put some wrist wraps around the bar and hold onto those instead of the bar itself (like this Strapped Front Squats - YouTube)

    Sydney's Best new Gym ?????

Take away the power racks and it seems like a pretty typical globo gym to me, I would rather train at home (and did, for years). This is from the perspective of not requiring any machines for training though.

    Anyone an Exercise Physiologist here?

I'm @ USyd I *think* I got a C average but I honestly don't know. I applied, got an offer, took the offer lol If there wasn't an offer I'd probably be working in a warehouse somewhere. If you want to get a job out of an ExSS degree you will need to get the EP hours done, at least in my...

    Anyone an Exercise Physiologist here?

Got a variety of grades, think I ended up with a credit average (without going to lectures/pracs for the most part). I remember getting 52 or something for biochemistry, because I suck at chemistry :D Course was a joke for the most part, nothing you can't learn on your own (which is why I found...

    Anyone an Exercise Physiologist here?

Did Exercise and Sport Science at uni, didn't do the hours to grad as an EP because I have no interest in that area of work. Didn't learn a thing from the degree, was a huge waste of time imo. Currently doing masters of physio, yet to to really improve my thoughts on the uni system but hey...

Weekly Poll #16 - Squat(s) you REGULARLY perform in workout (CHECK ALL THAT APPLY)

Low bar is all that I'm doing atm while on smolov. In the past have done high bar, front squat, hack squat, single leg squats as well. The only ones I wouldn't go back to are probably barbell hack squats.. my ass gets in the way so I just don't do them anymore. Primarily squat low bar...

    bench programming

Interesting. I'm starting week 3 of the base meso tomorrow, and it will probably be the first to provide a legitimate challenge in terms of load. I'm a little beat up simply from the volume, but I've never had a doubt about a set. I did use 90% of my 1RM though, as a few sources I read...

    Power lifting / strongman vids!

In the video I'm watching, the bar is already off her chest when he gives the press call.

    Power lifting / strongman vids!

Gotta say I can't see a pause there. Mammoth bench nonetheless.
