[Article] To compete or not to compete, Doug Daniels

Naturally, retarded little internet cowards like you resort to ad hominem posts like that load of predictable bullshit (nothing personal mate, just returning the favour, of course) when faced with something that might have some truth in it, but doesn't mesh with your own demented PoV that...

Fuck yeah. That book is the tits. Thanks for linking.

[Article] To compete or not to compete, Doug Daniels

You also wouldn't get "good at competing" (i.e., stronger - right?) by "competing" over and over again, without increasing your lifts significantly. Which would actually be down to consistent and effective training, I would've thought. Which takes a long time, for benefits to accrue, to the...

the what u saw at the gym TODAY thread

Saw a guy using the squat rack the other day, which is pretty unusual... For short sets of reverse (extreme narrow grip!) ez-bar curls @ maybe 15kg, all up, at a guess. What the fuck, with some people. Do they not know their goddamn memes?! :D

Struggling with conventional deadlifts and thinking of switching to sumo. NEED ADVICE

Mate, I'm roughly 6'2" with fairly long legs, nearly 40 years old with a totally sedentary background of being a stick figure leading to stick figure with a bit of gut, have been lifting for maybe a year all up with zero coaching, and can pull 180kg without straining anything too badly. It's...

[Article] Building the ultimate muscle machine: move your body through space. Program #1.

Cool.[/FONT][/COLOR] Maybe conventional deads (and strict press?) could replace power clean and push press, on day 2 every week? Though normal squats might be a bit much on top of that (on that day) though... could do lighter squats to start day 2 maybe? Yeah, I meant doing a power...

[Article] Building the ultimate muscle machine: move your body through space. Program #1.

Because that's what the program dictates, would be my guess: 2a.Chin ups to the front (wide grip)-----------------------------2x 4-7 2b.Chin ups (close grip palms facing you)-----------------------2x 4-7 Actually thinking about this program at some stage, btw. Might modify it just slightly...

[Article] To compete or not to compete, Doug Daniels

Yep. In other words, "not to compete" is the answer. For me anyway. :p edit: And probably a lot of guys out there, posting on forums, watching Youtube channels, reading articles, etc. - how many will ever be competitive; I mean seriously.

To Fish Oil or Not to Fish Oil....Great Medicine or Expensive Placebo?

Just to be contrary, I've now decided (after a bit more research, actually) that just plain ol' eating fish - like salmon - 2-3 times a week (per typical heart health recommendations, etc.) is how I'm going to "supplement fish oil" from now on. And for my Vitamin D3 fix, I'll get out in the damn...

Is this routine balanced or not?

LOL. I meant upper body push vs. upper body pull, just in case that wasn't totally clear, from what I actually posted. And deadlifts are a special snowflake in lots of ways, anyhow. As for balancing the program, OP, maybe consider 1-arm DB rows as another pretty awesome pull...

    stalling

The thing that helped me the most when stalling on big lifts was some higher rep work, and definitely not [even] lower rep work. But as always, ymmv. If nothing else works, maybe give it a shot though? Like, straight sets @ 10 reps or whatever. Full disclosure: I'm not a big lifter, yet.

Is this routine balanced or not?

Um... maybe indirectly, a bit? Honestly, I dunno mate. :D Strikes me that squats alone wouldn't be sufficient to keep my back as "strong" (lol) as the rest of me, but then, they could be adding some extra foundation there that I'm not aware of. Not like I'm about to stop doing them...

To Fish Oil or Not to Fish Oil....Great Medicine or Expensive Placebo?

I take the Blackmores (oil + Vit D) capsules, two a day with food, as suggested on the label. No issues of any kind so far, and have been taking them (same way, same dose) for months now. Wouldn't be surprised if there are different effects for different people though...

Is this routine balanced or not?

Since you're asking about balance, I'd have to say the program has problems: 5 x push vs. 3 x pull (per week), for starters. A lot of people make this mistake, or so I hear. If anything, most guys should be doing a bit more of the "pull" type lifts vs. "press" type lifts - again, so I hear...

    sumo vs conventional again

THat's because they're all on the PTC beginner program. Every last one of those fuckers. :p

The strongest man you've never heard of

Fucking LOL. It was convict conditioning(!), now it's penitentiary style weightlifting(!). There's one born every minute, I hear. "Hey, how do all those guys in jail get so farking big?!" [yeah, like they all do anyway ] "Uh, hey - you ever hear about how rife those...

    Rippetoe on Strength Training

I hear the same thing from lots of really damn strong guys out there (some of them competing, or have done, and with good results too), so chances are, there might be at least a grain of truth in it. I guess.

    Routine critique

Yeah, even I've managed to squat 140 a few times so far, with a slightly fucked up leg, approaching 40yo, with 1 year total training, give or take. Seems to be helping, if anything. And I heard that leg extensions are basically the most dodgy thing you can do to your knees, when it comes to...

    How do you 'Categorise' Cheating.

The golden rule of course, and this: Nothing more, nothing less, as far as I'm concerned. Same goes for the missus, which works out well. :)

No Bull Supps - Customer Service Review

No problems so far, for me. I always add extra instructions to the order, to leave stuff at the PO if nobody's around at the time. This is something I learned to do, online, some time ago. ANyway, while I'm posting about them already, I'll just add that their WPC is awesome (as well as @ a...
