    callouses

Boys, nothing nice about a man that eats his own skin. I've been finding that gloves are part of my problem when it comes to gripping, so am intentionally building up some nice callouses. Find chalk helps grip, but much more likely to make skin pinch and tear off.

    Women and Bodybuilding.

That is where I get confused with soy. I have been told it is evil and it is a miracle cure. Great for the heart, some say good for hormones, others say it's bad. I have done a heap of research and I just end up more confused. I guess I have got to the point where I feel that if I listened...

    Women and Bodybuilding.

Ahhhh how I miss milk. Lactose intolerance sucks. Will be reminded of it all next week while traveling regional NSW, eating cold soup out of a can and a 1/4 BBQ chook because the crappy hotel has no microwave and everything on the menu for room service contains dairy. Covering something in...

What would you order in a restaurant?

Thankfully I live in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney. Chefs here are used to hearing 'can I have a salad instead of chips', 'dressing on the side', 'no bread' and 'decaf soy latte- only bonsoy thanks'.

    Women and Bodybuilding.

I like to show of my muscles. I am proud of my strength and will find an excuse to flex or lift something heavy anytime! One day women will get that the only way to lose those chicken wings is to work those arms with weights. I do a Spin class once a week and it is filled with skinny girls...

    stopping sessions early

Agree with you 110% here. It's an awesome approach. One of the best things you can do for your clients is teaching the importance of finding ways to move past something. They have made the effort to be there, paid their cash, so don't give up, just approach things differently. I have days...

    Deadlifting and assisting tools?

I find chalk helps heaps, stops slippage. Can get painful though. Learnt the hard way- do not slap chalk. You end up suffocating in white particles. Rub chalk.

    Thoughts on Artificial Sweeteners?

Bit funny about anything too artificial, including sweetners. I find that they can really upset my tummy.

    Butt to floor squats

You can always jump on when bub wakes you up or to avoid your latest assignment.

    Deadlifting and assisting tools?

I have the same problem and it is taking me ages to get more grip strength. My issue is that my hands are too small to grip the bar the whole way round, so I spend the exercise clinging on for dear life, putting a lot of pressure on my grip. Farmers walk, holding a plate by the edge of your...

    Butt to floor squats

Did 50 on my lonesome yesterday, so reckon will see much better results tomorrow. Ahh, sleep and rest make a world of difference.

    About becoming a personal trainer

Are you sure he realises that a PT is meant to observe clients?

    stopping sessions early

I've been told this before as well, but only applies if you are someone who normally gives 110%. I've been told a few times by my trainer to just walk away. If you try and push past it, and your body just won't fire, sometimes it is best to let it go. Think this tends to apply to me as I can...

    What would you do?

This is my life- most of my work is done in shopping centres and have given up on room service when I am in most country towns. Always have a plastic container with me so I can mix up flavored tuna with some four bean and corn mix. Or by a cheapo garden salad and 1/4 chicken.

    Butt to floor squats

I have the benefit of training with the form nazi. Plus, I am a nerd, so I like it when my trainer explains all of the tiny little details about why I have to do something a certain way and how it should feel. Guess I had to expect that i couldn't just walk in and squat the same weight i was...

    Butt to floor squats

OK- so did 2x12 at 45 pretty easily. PT gave me more to rack on for the 50kg. Got out six and then... stuck at the bottom! Still have that weak spot in my movement at the bottom of the lift. Mind you, I am pretty run down at the moment and the entire workout was a disaster. Haven't had a lot...

For those women who think lifting weights will make them "bulk up"

Think I will have to pull up this thread again when the boy gets back on Sunday! I can't stand women's gyms and I have worked in one. But I guess I kind of have a different appreciation for them. For most of the women at these gyms, it is their 'me time'. It's not about being thin, it's...

    Interesting article...

Think you would get along with my mother. Never, ever, unless you want to risk death, take the last of the milk. If there is no milk for her tea, she hunts down the culprit is a murderous rage. Nothing stands between a crazy Irish midget and her tea.

    weighted pull ups

Love doing chins, etc on rings. It feels completely different.

    Help me wife, please...

Yep, compound all the way. She will get tone pretty quickly that way as well. If she prefers to train outdoors and is not ready to hit the weights room, get her doing push ups, various situps, tricep dips on bench, plyometric squats and lunges. It's pretty tough for women to get significant...
