    3" Belts

I have the same issue, tried a belt a 4" belt a couple of times. Not only was it extremely uncomfortable, but compromised squat depth (high-bar oly style) and actually caused back rounding in bottom positions. And at @180cm I'm hardly a midget, though relatively long-limbed and quite thin...

    The PB Thread

Good stuff people, nice to to see everyone sharing their PBs and progressing. Hit a 90kg power clean today@81kg, which was a little side-goal I set for myself, feels good. Next milestone will be 100kg. The main priority is powerlifting, but I'm really enjoying learning a bit of oly stuff on...

Close stance or wide stance for squats?

Mate, if you want feedback you really need to post up a vid so people can see how you are squatting. And also explain what your goals are. There are many factors. For example, I squat olympic style - narrow stance with my feet at hip height, high bar and full calf touching hammies depth. Which...

    Boxjumps as an accessory

That's what I thought too, I was expecting a bigger figure. But the 90cm vert was with a run up, the box jump is stationary from a bottom squat position. Next time will get a vid, go as high as possible and work on the technique. Seems like it, I'm no where near 2x bw, 1.7 (full oly squat...

    weak squat, strong deadlift

If you are quite tall chances are you naturally have better levers for deadlift than squat. What kind of squat are we talking about? E.g big difference between low-bar to parallel vs high bar full depth olympic squats, generally the latter is going to produce significantly lesser numbers.

    Boxjumps as an accessory

Did some box jumps today, never tried doing em properly before. Worked up to 44" (112cm) before calling it a day. I felt there was some left in it so I will improve on that next time. Be interesting to see in the long run how an improved strength base translates to jumping ability.

Box jump PB: 112cm box (44") Did some box jumps for the hell of it, worked up to a 112cm metre box with some left I felt, will improve on it next time.

    Wingman vs Oni Bench Challenge

It's funny that 0ni cops so much shit here, but in the long run is probably going to be better than most of us. He has a thirst for learning, is highly motivated, passionate and actually already has pretty decent relative strength. Bullshit, that's just something fat people say:p IMO Relative...

Cube Method beta test + Brandon Lily drug advice!

I like Lily's general candidness about drugs in his writings and vids. I think this is a positive step in the right direction in terms of the politics of strength sports etc.

    Deadlift frequency and volume

Well, personally DL is my best lift and I'm probably somewhat good at it for a novice/intermediate, so here's my 2c. Whenever I've tried to DL with any kind of frequency/volume/%, my overall results and training turns to shit, recovery and other lifts suffer too much. So I focus on squatting...

    Weightlifting Standards Calculator

Interesting. 112.5kg front squat predicts 83kg Power clean. Quite on the money of 85kg. Though both my front squat and power clean PBs are as fatigued secondary excercises and my oly technique is terrible. Be interesting to see how the numbers pan out when I find true maxes on front squat/oly...

    bench proper form

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and suggest that perhaps the typical competition style bench does not suit everyone, and that you may just simply need to experiment to work out what setup/technique is strongest and safest for you, and practice practice practice. For example, for me it...
