I now believe in personal trainers

Sorry mate, but I think he's having you on. The article was published in July of this year. You don't go from completing a bachelor's degree (assuming because avg deg. is usually three years?) to multiple phd's in a few months. Not putting him down, he may be great, but personally I'd prefer...

I now believe in personal trainers

Hmm, says he spent three years at uni. That should be long enough to get 2 phd's right? They only take like 6-7years or so each

    Female training-PTC style

My bad on the Lat Pulldown and Leg Press front, I suppose I was a bit narrow minded, I've just really thought of barbell and dumbbell exercises as compound exercises. So thanks for clearing that up. I had a quick look at the gym she joined, pretty much machines everywhere, and one half-rack...

    Female training-PTC style

My sister joined a gym this week: Her program consisted of (suprise, surprise): Lat pulldowns "That machine for your butt" Leg Press Machine Flyes and various other machines. Not ONE compound movement. Not even one. When she told me I said "Get in the Car, We're going to Frankston NOW!!" No...

    Stretching

I don't stretch much, but I find that my glutes and hammies are super tight But as soon as I start to get warmed up, like squatting etc. then my flexibility goes from none to PWOAH!! P.S. I like to freak out my friends by putting my foot on their shoulder then get them to push it to the wall...

    What are you getting next?

Sounds good, can't wait!! ebagz : "sorry if this is a dumb question, but can someone explain to me what the big deal about bumpers is and why would get them over normal olympic plates?" Bumper plates are able to be dropped without cracking or damaging flooring, this makes them useful to people...

    What to buy?

Sorry didn't answer you're original question. The 600kg bar is here: 220cm Olympic Barbell_Thrust Bearing_Rated 600kg and the ABC barbell is here: (ring or e-mail for a quote, but expect around $500-$600) Australian Barbell Company | Olympic I'd say go for the Black Nitride finish w/bronze...

    What to buy?

I'd say go the 600kg bar, it's only an extra 20 bucks or so then if you can get an ABC powerbar, (like Oliver said) Bugger the pulley, if you can get bands then you can use those for assisted pullups and to add resistance to the big 3 (SQ, DL, BP). I'd say get a few pairs as you can get 2x...

    What to buy?

-Power Rack -Barbell (best you can afford & maybe an el cheapo for rack work) -Kettlebells (adjustable/classic) -Rubber Flooring -Plates (bumpers best but Rubber Coated if on budget) This is a good basic set-up. If you find it's lacking you can always add more gear later, but its all you would...
