    The Dream Gym Thread

Oliver speaks the truth, but still, this thread was more about the type of gym people dream about, but few ever own. It was about forgetting what we "need" and focusing on the gear we dream about. But if I was (and I am) saving up and planning for a home gym, then Oliver's advice would...

Please advice on proposed buy (gymdirect):

Still, I prefer to buy the goods outright. It may take longer in the scheme of things, but there is no messing about no owing things to anyone. Also, to enter into the contract you have to be at least 18, so my dad would have to enter it for me. It's a lot of hassle, to save a month or two.

Please advice on proposed buy (gymdirect):

How does the payment plan work? because everytime I click the link the page shows up blank. Is it the Flexirent one, I read their terms and conditions and I don't really like the fact that they own the gear, and their end of term options don't seem that great, I mean you can re-buy your gear...

Please advice on proposed buy (gymdirect):

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about that so I thought It's better to be safe than sorry. I won't clean anywhere near that for a long time anyways. As soon as I save up enough money, Adrian will be the first person I call!!

Please advice on proposed buy (gymdirect):

As it usually is! I am saving up at the moment, but not looking to spend more than $2200 initially, because of the time it takes to save, then buy gear like kettlebells, power ropes, bumpers etc. over time. I just want to make sure the $2200 or so I will spend will be the best possible use of...

Please advice on proposed buy (gymdirect):

No probs mate. It might be better to get the bushing barbell though, but my main concern was that it might not have enough rotation for the Olympic lifts, as I have read somewhere that if the bar does not rotate well, it can put extra strain on the wrists. The difference in the price of the two...

Please advice on proposed buy (gymdirect):

What Oliver04 says is right, I was thinking of buying the regular power rack, but he turned me onto the Commercial package, for the $600-$650 extra over a regular package you get a better quality product. I hear Markos has it at PTC and loves it, and if its good enough for those guys it will...

    PTC version 2.0

Big Fella, who're we kidding there? I'll probably set the record for the worst lifter, just means I have to work harder and have a longer way to climb. I'll e-mail you 1st thing tomorrow, and when I get confirmation as to whether I'll be heading up next week (applying for 1st job) I'll ring to...

    Power racks

Just wanted to thank you guys for your help. I think I might go for the Commercial Muscle Motion. Checking out the forum seems like a lot of people bought from gym direct, and they're really helpful which is a really big deal for me. I might send Adrian a message to get a quote on it.

    Power racks

I checked out the Muscle Motion HPRSP Commercial Power Rack with the 155kg of plates, the heavy duty bar and bench, and it looks like a much better piece of kit. Before I buy it though I have two main questions. 1. What sort of company is gym direct?(e.g. reputable, provide good quality etc)...

How bad was your first training equipment?

My first was a pair of bricks put together with duct tape, and about 6 bricks joined together with duct tape in a rectangle It's only been a year since then and I've gained 20kg and lowered my body fat levels, all with an el cheapo 20kg dumbbell set from Rebel Sport

    Power racks

Mate, I'm having some difficulties with buying a Power Rack as well. It is a toss-up between the Muscle Motion and the Cyber-market complete package, leaning towards the Cyber-Market because I can get the bar, rack, bench, plates in one lot. Thinking of adding a pair of 10kg Bumpers to the...
