    There is a rockclimbing store at West End that stocks chalk balls 2 for $8 or something. I just put them in a plastic bag, seems to work fine.

    Grip Strength

    5x5 deads is a grip workout in itself. Because I spend long enough in the gym as it is, why waste more time doing something that MAY give me a benefit when I have to DL 300kg in the future?

    Benching

    Since I'm training for comp lifts, I've made all my benches paused now. Helps me learn the movement and will (hopefully) make me stronger off the chest. Speed benching helped me as well, although I can't quite be sure if it was the addition of an extra bench session (1session->2) or the speed...

    Grip Strength

    I can DoH 150kg and mixed grip 215kg. I haven't wasted a single minute training grip strength in my life. Unless you're failing on some sort of specific strongman event I think it's a waste of time.

    Squat shoes?

    Vans, cons and volleys all have pretty thick soles and you want to be as close to the ground as possible when deadlifting so the bar has less distance to travel.
