Competing in both GPC and PA

Aside from the comp bar, you don't *need* to have Eleiko bars - we use ABC ones for training. I'm surprised that your PA lifters haven't gotten in trouble about that sort of stuff, given that Wilkes' view on other feds is fairly well known, and it's written explicitly in the regulations. I...

Competing in both GPC and PA

Ok yep it's a little bit more granular than that - you can train PA lifters and coach them, but you can't coach them at a comp, only spectate am I right? And likewise, when you run GPC comps, they can't help out at all with spotting or loading? My point was more about training with fellow PA...

Yeah I forget that you can't actually try and be helpful in the powerlifting section, and that only the opinion of those with a 800+ total counts

How do I have no idea what I'm talking about? I quoted directly from the PA regulations on page 1. You can't compete in PA and any federation which does not have a substantially similar anti doping system. According to ASADA, you also can't associate in a professional or training context with...

I like IPF, just not some aspects of it, not a huge fan of PA, but it's the IPF affiliate so eh.

I agree. Way less politics in the other sports I do than PL, and a lot more people do them too!

Competing in both GPC and PA

I don't really care enough to be honest - the activities of PA as an organisation mean almost nothing to me as a lifter.

Competing in both GPC and PA

Well you did write at least one article bashing IPF as a federation, and you seem to have a history with the PA president, so does that really surprise you?

Competing in both GPC and PA

I wouldn't have thought there'd be too many GPC lifters at say MUWPC or Obsidian for example, even our little gym is PA or unaffiliated lifters only. I don't think anyone would have a problem with someone from another fed training there, as long as they were natty and not suspended / banned by...

Competing in both GPC and PA

Because chances are, you're using different type of equipment than what you would in a comp (like bendy deadlift bars, monolifts etc), and your coach can't coach you at a comp unless they're a PA member as well, nor are you going to be competing with the people that you train with. There's...

Competing in both GPC and PA

Personally I don't know why a PA lifter would lift at a gym affiliated to another fed, but whatever floats your boat. No I couldn't see you getting in trouble for watching a comp, but does anyone go to comps that they're not involved with in some way to spectate?

Competing in both GPC and PA

I suppose it is a bit open to interpretation as to what is the definition of "participation in the activities of". From the PA regulations: "Natural persons shall not be admitted as Members of P.A. if they also, at the time of their application for membership, maintain a membership of or...

Competing in both GPC and PA

He's probably not going to be welcomed back to PA with open arms, and isn't really meant to be training with lifters / coaches from other feds if he is a PA member IIRC. He should probably consider which path he wants to go down before deciding.

    Recommend me a program

Honestly I think it underlined just how much I wasn't working hard enough on 5/3/1, especially after training for 2+ years. Can still only bench 120 properly though.

    Recommend me a program

@panda; it has worked amazingly for me - turns out on 5/3/1, despite doing several versions of it, I just wasn't working hard enough. The program is on his website http://www.canditotraininghq.com/free-strength-programs/ like I said, I lack the discipline and time to go to the gym 5 days a week...

    Recommend me a program

I thought 5/3/1 was the be all and end all, until I was convinced by another (far better) powerlifter than myself that it didn't have enough volume, so I switched to doing Candito's 6 week. Had mad gains on squat and deadlift, but couldn't stick to also benching 3 days a week, so my bench...

What are the biggest mistakes that you made when you started powerlifting?

He's just shitposting like usual. There used to be some good powerlifting info and lifters on here, unfortunately they are gone. All mediocre lifters and old farts now!

What are the biggest mistakes that you made when you started powerlifting?

started off with a program better suited to powerlifting than 5/3/1, the usual form stuff etc.

What Is A Bench Shirt Really?

Bench shirts are for equipped lifters, and they're bloody hard to put on and use effectively. Takes 2 people and several minutes to put one on. I don't use them, but all of the other competing lifters in my gym do, I'm guessing if you're asking the question, you're probably not really going to...
