    training/weight lifting while sick/flu

I have never had a patient admitted who had the flu, pneumonia, yes. My advice is to rest up, drink plenty of fluids and eat heaps of different types of fruit. You'll bounce back quicker that way.

You are a classic, Shrek. That reminds me of the following site: Why Won't God Heal Amputees?

What do women look for in a gym?

This brings up an interesting side point. My understanding is that women get jealous of stick figure thin girls they see at the gym, but the guys do not want that! We want curvy and voluptuous. Although, I want to look like the fitness models on the covers of the magazines, but my wife does...

What healthy foods should be avoided

Yes, energy in verses energy out. Don't avoid fruit or you will die early :-)

    Alternatives to WPI?

Ever heard of the placebo effect? :-) Protein supplements are very cheap in comparison to a meal. A tuna sandwich on wholemeal bread (using the cheapest ingredients) will cost you approximately a dollar (correct me if I am wrong), a protein supplement will cost you approximately $.90. Now...

    Alternatives to WPI?

Protein supplements like whey, soy and egg whites are whole foods, just refined. Do you mean, unrefined? After all, even brown rice and oats are refined a little, as well as wholemeal bread. A better argument might be that animal flesh proteins contain other things like minerals and omega 3...

    Alternatives to WPI?

I would argue that soy and egg white protein are real. In the case of powders they are just further refined, with the water removed. When I say look at the ingredients list instead of the marketing I mean that you want to maximise the amount of active ingredient for the smallest cost. This is...

    Alternatives to WPI?

I would recommend soy protein or egg white protein (both come in powdered or liquid forms). Judge a product on its ingredients list, not on the marketing. You might hear negative stuff about soy protein and oestrogen, but I believe these claims are theoretical and unfounded (in fact it was...

    Intermittent Fasting

Three or four years ago I began fasting as part of a yoga routine. I would go bit longer than 24 hours without food, just a couple of glasses of fruit juice. I think in terms of losing weight it is better to eat small regular meals and exercise. I agree that we eat a lot more than we need to...

    Good Bodybuilding mags in Australia?

I like 'muscle & fitness' Australian edition, 'Australian musclemag' and 'ironman'. I would stay away from 'men's health' it is full of ads. The article to ads ratio in the magazines I have recommended is about 3:1, so it's really not that much. One thing I've noticed though is that the whole...

    what's you favourite muscle group?

I agree with you Mike, I feel the best AFTER a leg work out, not during! Leg workouts are my least favourite because it is so punishingly painful, squats and dead lifts on the same day, there is no God.

have a look over my diet

I was concerned about the mercury levels until I did some research and found out that the tuna they use is generally younger and smaller nowadays. I read it on the Internet so it must be true! "Canned tuna generally has lower mercury levels than other tuna because tuna used for canning are...

have a look over my diet

I want to avoid too many animal meat products, the occasional meal is okay, and overindulgence in animal meat protein has been linked to cancer in several studies.
