DKD deserves a ban for that.

    Practical Motivation

I train for the chicks and money. On a serious note, human beings are capable of miraculous feats when we devote our work to something external to ourselves, so that is a very good advice, Fadi. I train to beat my training partners or some lifters I've never met but know them online in kilos...

Back building (what does it take)

I do DB rows one arm at a time, so just the one 60kg DB. It's not that hard. There are a few smaller guys here that toy with it.

    Work Romances

I need a new workplace. The women at mine are simply not boner-inspiring at all. In fact I have never worked at a place with hot girls (narrowly missing out on a job at Abby Winters lol). I want to check that box before I die.

Back building (what does it take)

First time ever? 20kg for 3x8, about 2 years ago. I don't do it very often though, I prefer chin-ups.

Back building (what does it take)

I can focus on my lats better with DB rows, but after a certain point, DBs just aren't big enough for back work (unless your gym has some giant ones). I'm already doing 3x8 with the biggest ones here at 60kg.

Back building (what does it take)

Bench press works the shoulders plenty, esp since I'm doing volume bench (Smolov Jr) and RAM (Titan) BP at the same time.

Australian Powerlifting Championships + 2011 International Pacific Invitational

Brad Gillingham looks like Mr Incredible (build-wise) up close. That 395 pull was epic! He also squatted a "token" 3 attempts at 350, 360 and 370 (all easy) just to save energy for the 395 pull. Tony Harris' 412.5 squat looked easy, as he has such great technique. I was spotting that and we...

Back building (what does it take)

I've been doing a lot of chins and DB rows this year and been getting comments that my back is looking a lot thicker. Getting stronger at the bottom of the bench thanks to the extra back strength too. But there's no way I'd reduce squat for that. :D I'd rather cut down (and that's what I've...

    Bringing up your legs

I just squat and my quads, hams and calves all grow fine. I'm 5'7", 90kg, legs are 27.5", calves 16". The only high reps squats I've ever done were the widowmaker 20 rep breathing squat. I mostly do between 3~6 reps for strength, and total between 25 and 50 reps over a large number of sets every...

    motivation and the excuses

No worries, mate. Out of curiosity, do you still train people? I thought you're in a different line of work, and this stuff we do here is just your hobby / passion.

    motivation and the excuses

Fadi, Devante is the other bloke. I'm Dancelot (real name Linh). I understand what you said, and you're absolutely right about the psychological aspect of it. What you proposed is the way to get someone to get shit done, so to speak, even if they hate the process. My approach is, however...

    Advice On Gear

A lifter at my club at your weight (105kg) tried on a new erector DL suit 2 weeks ago and later described it as getting suddenly punched hard in the nuts whenever he bent over to grab the bar.

    motivation and the excuses

You are right, Fadi. My point is that as long as people see training as a necessary evil to achieve what they want, they will always have to battle issues with motivation and excuses. If you can make them fall in love with the process itself, those issues will simply disappear into irrelevancy...

ever met anyone that you met online?

I've met a few fellow lifters from these online forums, ended up training with some of them and have kept in touch with others. I don't meet women online as they don't exist on the Internets.

    Squat technique - elbows down

Yeah I understand what you said. With ppl who haven't squatted properly before (just trained a new guy like that), they tend to stay too vertical and don't know how to sit back. I fixed my guy by telling him to knee break then giving him a box to sit back to ("tap your arse on this box then go...

    Squat technique - elbows down

You're welcome, Fadi. Just saw that bit from ceffo about hip-break. As far as I know, IPF lifters are taught to break at the knees first, which causes the break at the hip at the same time, in a low bar, narrow to medium stance squat. This is how I'm taught at my club as well, and same is...
