Older guy starting home gym, advice wanted

Gym Direct took good care of me, and I am fully satisfied. I recommend them. New bar is perfect. And thanks to all the help I have received from guys at this forum. You are a great bunch here. I'm going in for a hernia op soon, so I'll have to leave off serious weights for a while, but I'll be...

He's very cautious. I'd love to know exactly what was said between him and them, but not my business really. :p

Fadi, yes they are aware. I gave them the link to the original thread, which is why it is now deleted.

Vendor verdicts? I think you mean "edicts". Anyway, just to show my case is not unique by any means, I've dug this up: Later on he says "So uh, sent back the MM barbell that [was] partially destroyed in transit, 15 business days ago. Still no refund from gym direct" And there are more...

Fadi, thanks, but I am in Qld.

Thanks again for the advice, Fadi. There is now mention of lawsuits and defamation by the admin here, which, to be polite, is nonsense (my son is a lawyer and I know all about Australian defamation law). The description I gave of the delivery and the photos were all entirely factual. If someone...

Thread describing poor delivery from GymDirect deleted!

Just a heads up to all members here: my thread about the poor delivery from the seller, who is also a sponsor here, was deleted without explanation. Just thought you guys should know what kind of forum this is.

I posted a thread accurately describing the poor delivery I received from this sponsor. The thread was deleted without explanation.

Cheap Chinese Barbell locking / lockjaw COLLARS

Thanks Fadi, those look high quality. I'm fully expecting to be disappointed with the "cheap Chinese chit" when it arrives, but what the hey, sometimes you get lucky with junk from China and it actually works. I looked at the ones in the Aussie Fitness store, and they looked identical, but cost...

Cheap Chinese Barbell locking / lockjaw COLLARS

After seeing the fancy prices local suppliers want for collars, I bought these off eBay for $10 / pair. This seems like an area where prices are wildly different depending on brand and store. Spring collars apparently lose their grip after a while, and screw collars mar the barbell sleeve...

Maybe you guys don't know it, but Reg lived in South Africa from the early 1950s, not the US (which he only visited once early on). As such, his access to these drugs would have been very difficult. We didn't have steroids in S.A., period. "standing at 6’2″ and competing between 230-250lbs, he...

Steroids were not even available when Reg won his first titles. http://weightrainer.blogspot.com.au/2009/08/history-of-steroids-in-bodybuilding.html Jon Jon says Reg was against the use of steroids, though he did not cut out people who used them

People who abuse anabolic steroids to build muscle will go to great lengths to justify what they are doing. They will point to people who take them for medicinal reasons, they will point to those who have abused them and survived a long time, seemingly without consequences. For those who abuse...

Yes and Yes. It was only in the early-to-mid 1960s that almost all high-level competitive bodybuilders were taking steroids in the weeks leading up to contests. Reg Park's career pre-dated this (Pro-debut at Mr Britain in 1946, then wins at Mr Universe, 1951, 1958, 1965). And yes, steroids kill.
