8 second intervals, followed by 12 second cool downs, repeat for 20 minutes? Sounds do-able.

Interval training definitely works, I've been doing it for 17 months now. But shorter bursts in shorter cardio intense workouts in the last 6 months and it definitely gets the job done :)
 
^ my bad, damn HIIT intervals. I'm going to do 9 seconds on / 6 seconds off and give it a a cool name =)

My preference for intervals is heavy kettlebell swings
 
Double alternating tabata. Thats 16 x 20s on / 10s off with 2 different movements alternated.
Do something like burpees and UDLs :evil:
