I've always viewed the function of the squat like the "engine" of the car. Grow that fucker to a big-block V8 and you have a vastly more powerful vehicle.
By all means, continue on with your leg presses & leg curls or whatever else... while you're driving your little 1.2L Hyundai hatch I'll be enjoying the power of my 510hp V8.
Whether or not I agree, this is the bodybuilding forum, not the strength/PL forum ... and also, leg curls are a poor example as they work the hamstring in a unique way as far as I'm aware.
Even if I didnt have a reason other than I don't feel like squatimg n e more than I wouldnt feel inclined to say otherwise. .my knee (broken once upon a time ) gives me hell for days after a squat. ..squatting doesnt meen much to me compared to the pain I have in that knee. Id rather leg press the rest of my life than only manage a few more good year's of squatting

I normally dont like machines goose but I had to hit the gym at oeak hour the other day and I couldn't get a rack surprisingly. There was no one roughly my height I coukd comfabley jump in with. 45 leg presses kill my back. So there was a an upside down lleg press just sitting there. Though id warm up. 8 sets later n I was satisfied to drop squats. Upside down leg press is the cadilac of leg presses. Big foot plate as well its pro made not just a snith machine like the old days. It was like heaven for my knee
