A genuine question here
What is the wisdom of a coach getting a 14 year old to do equipped lifting?

Dark.

If you think about this "powerlifting" as a sport, wisdom is not the issue here, it's about lifting as much as possible within the rules of the federation.

The rules for powerlifting, are not about health.

Good idea DREADLIFT;
That comment was senseless

I let it be as yours was a serious question. There's going to be enough fruits derailing the thread as it is trying to detract from the fact a 14 year old girl benches more than them.

The wisdom of a coach getting a 14 year old to do equipped lifting is that if she wants to be an equipped long term, the sooner she gets adjusted to the patterns the better.
Given she's Russian, there's a fair chance she wants to be equipped long term as that's still seen as the legitimate form of powerlifting in most of Eastern Europe.

Russian powerlifters and weightlifters are pretty much celebrities over there
Klokov was on Dancing on Ice and MasterChef and he's always in adverts

A lot do gymnastics quite early too (as in, toddlers lol)

I found an article ages ago talking about development of Ice Hockey players
How at ages 4-8 anyone could participate, from 8-12 they would cull about 50% of athletes as would keep doing this right until the end of teens. Progressing only those who showed potential (both physically and mentally)
It was quite interesting. Sort of like "natural selection" for sports

I have "The Development of the Russian Conjugate System" if anyone wants a read
