What and sports such as nrl and afl where half the time us spent hugging/humping each other on the ground isn't slightly homosexual? Lol
The world cup would have bought us 36 billion of dollars to the GDP that's more than all the sports here would ever bring in revenue for the next 20 odd years.

A few years ago when soccer really went off here (when the soccerroos went ok in the world cup) Australia really didnt take full advantage of that - from what I can see they sort of just let it control itself and didnt really try and build from it much - now soccer has died in its ass again over the last 1-2 yrs....no real surprise we didnt get it...
Soccer will always be big at junior level here - because parents do not like there kids playing contact sport at a young age - once these kids reach 11-12 most of them will turn to rugby league, union, or afl - they are just bigger more exciting sports for kids to play...
I think Soccer has its place within Australia but it will never be a top 2-3 sport.....and if thats the case we will prob never have big events like the world cup here.
Nope not mad just sad that aussies idolize sports that bogans think is world class. Foot ball is a religion not a sport. It's a beautiful game of free flowing form anybody ccn play

Soccer was around before afl/nrl was even conceived here in aus. Why does a game where u hold the ball and run around be called "foot ball" when you don't really use your "foot" that much if any. Should have been called "hug other blokes carrying a ball"

It may have boosted our economy but at the expense of sports that have a much stronger following in this country, and that rely on spectators week in week out.
Face it, Australia sucks at soccer, kids don't follow soccer, and the decent players would rather play in some third rate European team than play here.
