Surgeons in Melbourne

Hey y'all. Just wondering if any fellow Victorians (or otherwise) know of decent surgeons in the State (preferably specialising in shoulders)
Tried booked in to see Greg Hoy but it's a 6 or 7 month waiting list so any others would be appreciated

Look for ones that the AFL clubs regularly use. I went to see Julian Feller who was highly recommended but I think he is a knee specialist.

Hoy does 90% of the afl guys from what I gather. Hence the waiting list haha

I had my shoulder cleaned out by a guy called Frank Lyon. Good doc, expensive though.

Ah yeah, read the name again. Had some mates go to him.

I would book in and wait. A good surgeon is something I would wait for if it is not extremely urgent.

Any reason you need to be in Melbourne for it? Shoulder recon, in early morning, out the next morning (if you're first on the list, you'll be out the door about 8am or so depending how organised your surgeon/discharge team are).

Plenty of good orthopods up in Sydney. I'd go for Desmond Bokor at MUH, fuck all waiting queues because they're still a new hospital.

Paul plank did my knee I'm sure he does shoulders I would recommend him to everyone . He is in Ballarat there is Andrew Byrne he did a work mates shoulder

That is the other option

Only thing is I would need to make a few trips up first for a consult etc

If I could do all the ground work down here and just call them up and book the surgey or something that'd be fine lol

ring and ask to be put on the cancellation list - that way if someone cancels an appointment next week, they will automatically call you.

i bust all sorts of waiting lists this way.
