My guess would be just a shit load of brutal training everyday. No worrying about overtraining, peaking or bullshit telling everyone you missed the lift because it fell out of the groove.

Although he was carrying around over 300lbs at one point, that might allow for a lot of muscle, and then after he lost all the weight, maybe muscle memory kicked in?

Does sound a bit suss but he did say that the 720 doesn't count as was a gym lift and got 600 something in a comp.
Can't remember him saying Maccas gave him steroid like results. He did say he didn't know shit about nutrition back then and just ate to be a big mother fucker.
