Weighing food is deceiving !

McFLy

super m0derator
The last few days i started measuring and weighing all my portions in measuring cups and digital scales. To get my calorie intake scientifically intact an macro ratio. I feel like I been eating so much when I look at how big my portions sizes should be compared to what they are now Lol. Its so small when u look at it compared to going by eye. Any body else weighing there food up?

I found the opposite I was underestimating my portion sizes using eye and measuring cup.

If your using mfp make sure you check whether its cooked or incooked weight depending what your weighing.

I weigh some of my food usually my lunch for work as I only have to do it once as i eat the same thing each day but I tend to guesstimate my dinner because it varies so much.

Cool. How many cals a day u on bro? And macros ? Carbs protein fat ect?

2300-2500 cals for losing. 2-3 g protein per kg bw. I don't eat gluten and have very little sugar so most of my carbs come from veggies and rice. My breakup is usually 40%p/40%f/20% carbs. Couple times a week I have a big carb up when the mrs makes spag bol or something with shit tonnes of rice then I usually get a higher carb ratio.

Peeps on here have told me the % aren't the best way to track but I'm lazy snd tge graph on mfp makes it easy.

Are you using mfp. Shits great with the barcode scanner and nearly every food already in there.

Yea brother mfp is the best app ever made I've made 5 day meal choices to keep it intresting. I wrote them on the fridge my missus says what you want today I say number 4 and guess what bro number 4 is weighed up and cooked haha so simple you know u can get calipers on eBay for 10 bux mate? Comes with instructions and all you can YouTube it for a visual as well. Just orderd some

For example Because you don't realise just how little a 300 gram porterhouse is and it contains 537 calories. When you weight thd fucker up you feel ripped off! Lol

haha this si so true - I now eat a steak with less fat so i can eat more :)

cant go past a scotch fillet but.

It's not that the %'s aren't the best way to track.. it's that they're so hard to tweak easily.

It's much easier knowing that you eat 1g of protein per pound of BW, about 0.5g (or less) of fat per pound of BW and then just fill your calories with carbs. I don't bother counting the calories of the carbs, instead I just increase or decrease my carb intake depending on whether I'm cutting or gaining.. and just monitor on the scales and in the mirror.

Anyway, I wouldn't really bother weighing once you've got a feel for it. Unless you compete.
