do

Absoultely not, as I wrote in the very post you quoted, don't need religion to make the right choices.
You can live your whole life as a good catholic, without ever knowing it or anything about the religion.
I'm a believer and knowingly made bad choices, doesn't put me in front of the que, it's how you live your life that counts.

Sorry I see it now.

With what you said about not even needing to believe to get in. One of the very few things I remember from years at catholic school was the religion teacher saying you need to believe to get in.

I heard fred hollows say once that he thought you had to be a Christian to be a good person; he changed his view when working with people doing good who were not religious.

Nevertheless, the values offered by religion do help guide notions of what it is to be a good person; it is just politics that sometimes uses religion to justify a bad cause.

Thats 50% of the unit marks. "Faith without works is dead" is what is written which means followers of the new covenant need to be and do good also.

You don't need to be a devoted believer, a practicing participant or even a fully paid up member of whatever religion to get into heaven, you don't enven need to believe in heaven to get in.
All you have to do is do more good than bad, every kunce knows right from wrong, kind from cruel and generous from selfish, membership does not guarantee a ticket upwards, it only offers guidance.
Pesonally I choose to believe, but know that my life membership will not change the fact I will face some tough questions at the perly gates regarding my choices.
Dont worry @El Testicle ; I figure you'll be standing right next to me flashing your membership card that's also declining.

Bit like in being in the express checkout at Safeway and the eftpos card declining?

Lol 'Sorry God... Humanity was supposed to deposit my good deeds into that account on the 15th, I swear' :p

We can always try, "no way bro, this card expired? I have other cards, tokens, was told to give ten of these green paper memebersbip cards, member number 1000?" ;)

i think the struggle people have with the christianity of the bible and islam as well i guess,is that there is a militant edge to it...

I personally don't see anything wrong with what you have called "a militant edge". In fact I welcome it, just as I accept the attribute that is aggressiveness in our human nature. No sane person would say oh, I wish I had no aggression in me (as one of many attributes that go to make up our human nature). It's all about control. We all need to have love, mercy, justice, aggression, dignity, self-worth /self-esteem / self-confidence etc.. It's how we control these attributes that really matters. One can have too much love, or too much hate, or be too confident (giving the impression of being arrogant). So having some militancy (as part of a system) is only following what is natural and applicable with human nature (for when militancy is needed to be expressed). There's a time and place and a need to be able to deal with life's variable situations.

theres a fear involved.you convert or you will die forever.
Not sure I fully understand what you mean here.
