    Sumo Vs. Conventional Deadlifts

Bwahaha. :D The more I read, the less I know. Seriously! A contradictory mess, every time. Lalalalala, can't hear any of it, I just lift things damn it, lalala. :p

You have to move from this country. Which country do you move to?

Maybe Sweden. I have some friends there, I don't mind really cold weather, and actually, the country's pretty sweet mostly (far as I know, sorta thing). I liked NZ when I was over there. Some of my extended family has recently come back (to stay) from Canada, and they reckon it was a good...

    Sumo Vs. Conventional Deadlifts

Ah, okay. Also, I used to hear stuff about taller guys (like me) being better off with sumo deads (I ignored this anyway :D), but it seems that's just so much bullshit. This article is the kind I like - actual studies done properly, as far as I can tell. Noice. :)

    Sumo Vs. Conventional Deadlifts

Interesting. So, when did sumo deads become PL- legal, or were they from the very start? Think I'll stick with conventionals anyway, but I don't at all mind learning about lifts, powerlifting and so on.

    Ab Exercises

As many as you can do with good form. The ab wheel is a brutal thing.

    Motivate the girl to gym

I'm lucky with regards to this, I guess. My girl decided to take an interest in free weights (and chinups, etc.), after seeing what it was doing for me, as well as finding out about what it can do for women. She's quite happy with the results, so far, and isn't likely to stop any time soon...

the what u saw at the gym TODAY thread

Saw an "upper body broseph" (so yeah, a broseph :D) DOING LEGS. With a vengeance! Full squats, the works. This guy was herping around for months (at least!) and was on his way to becoming a post-an-image target (friends don't let friends skip leg day, or whatever), but damn if he isn't...

    Another stronglifts question

Oh okay, I thought you might "hate" 5x5 for some other reason than it just not working for you. :) Bench... I could see 3 times every 2 weeks not being enough, if benching was a priority. That would be the case with 5x5, or Starting Strength, or GSLP, etc., etc. I do my benching twice a week...

    Another stronglifts question

Looks like tradition as much as anything else, to me. Starting Strength only has 1x5 for deadlifts too.* So does that "Reg Park" routine on a few websites (that one's 3x5 for deadlifts, but the first two are warmup or ramping sets, just like the 5x5 lifts are actually 3x5 + 2 warmup or ramping...

    The PB Thread

Squat way below parallel (as always) @ 127.5  And 130 is definitely within reach right now. :) I know, it's not a massive lift by any means, but I've been doing this shit for less than one year, and for some reason, 140kg seems really important, lol. 3 plates, bro! :D Maybe I can hit...

New study finds you can scare the fat out of you

Or, I dunno, they could have sex... Gaaahhhh! My brain, my brain. :( Probably burned a crapload of calories, being terrified by that thought. Awesome!

If you Had To Pick 1 Weight Training Exercise…

Well, I'm just a n00b :D but I'll play along, and post what seems to work best for me, so far... Legs: Low bar squat, if I have to pick just one for quads *and* hams, etc. Chest: Dumbbell bench, without a doubt. But (flat) barbell is second best. Back: Just one? Jesus. Um... barbell rows...

New to this looking for helpful advice

Check this out, and also this website. The Waterbury nutrition+training routine (downloadable from the first link) is pretty full on, and includes some pimping of supplements, but the general template in there is solid, I'd say. And Lyle McDonald is wise in the ways of body recomposition in...

    Spoto and Efferding Raw Benching

Yep, that was some weird warmups right there. To me, a newbie, I mean. :p But damn! Crazy benching that is. Love the way the lightER (not *light*) weights were being thrown around. Off the show!

    Steroids being replaced

Thing is, they're not all like that. Most of my more recent gains, I can put down to this awesome piece of kit (don't knock it until you try it): vCPZfdkRTSE I saw a totally ripped MMA dude using one. Looked legit. So yeah, give it a try.

When should you wear a belt?

Well, there goes the idea of knowing for sure whether I should or not! :D Didn't mean to start that shitstorm. I guess that's how it goes though, with any "lifting theory" stuff. Eh. I'll wait for a while before buying a belt. If ever. Same goes for straps, etc. At least it's interesting, and...

    Check your volume!

Last session I missed a couple of things, but all up it came to... 13400kg, apparently. Not counting warmups. And it took longer than an hour. Well. it seems I like volume, considering I'm still a novice lifter (er... I think).

When should you wear a belt?

Would it make much difference if the guy in question (like me, say) started very recently, in his mid-30s, after being (almost) totally sedentary for most of his life, and had a skinny-as-hell build and base to work from? I've had no "core" or back problems that I'm aware of, so far, but this...

When should you wear a belt?

That's the question. I don't even own one, and I'm not lifting big yet, I must admit. But I don't want to risk anything I don't have to. Currently squatting ~125 and deadlifting ~165, and I honestly have no idea when a belt would be necessary... if ever! :) TIA. edit: Maybe this should go in...
