6 weeks to start running seems too short since the race is 42km's.
By May I'll be running 12km's in over an hour which is jus over a quarter of the race. My mate says he never ran more than 30k's during training but should be able to run at least 30k's.

Just finish. I don't enjoy long distance running at all. I enjoy sprint work etc but plodding along at one pace bores me. The mental slog will be the major challenge.

I'm doing another Tough Mudder in May and in the past I have been able to jog 12km's by the time the event came around, so am looking at replicating that. I figure that would be a good base to start with.

I started a sprint routine which I love. I have music blasting in my ear and don't have a watch to time rest periods etc.
I use a 100m footy field. Sprint 10 jog 90, sprint 20 jog 80, 30/70, 40/60 etc upto 100 then back down the ladder again, 90/10, 80/20, 70/30 until I'm back to 10/90.
I just completed my 3rd Tough Mudder and had a ball doing it and have decided (hopefully) that I can stay Tough Mudder fit majority of the time. In the past I have trained up for TM only to get back into strength training and well I struggle to get back into running and fitness again.

What I really hate is being overtaken by someone who looks like they've never worked out before and I think they're thinking how unfit I am.
Sprints, HIIT, Bas Rutten workouts I am much more suited to and enjoy.
Over the last 10 weeks I've trained to be able to run 12km and not once have I ever felt this runners high that people speak of. I hated it, all I got was burning legs and numb toes. I've always been terrible at running though and I don't see too many 100kg+ people running out there.

I think I'm a bit like Brick (physically) and have kinda acheived those goals, but happily married and still do the kid thing.

Anyone signing up this year? The south east QLD one is only around the corner from my house. The Sunshine Coast one was very flat throughout the whole course whereas this course will offer alot of hills. Thinkin I'm going after my 3rd headband.
