    Basic Strength Standards

Well in terms of a good weight for someone who lifts and not the average BMI stuff, i've heard the 3lbs/inch of height (american much). So for me being 173cm (about 68.1 inches) that would set me at 204.3lbs (about 92-93kg). And that's sort of like a minimum. If we're talking about powerlifting...

    Basic Strength Standards

The thing i don't like about the table is that I'd think you'd have to modify it for people of varying heights and age. Say a short person at 5'5" weighing 140lbs deadlifting 300lbs would be less advanced IMO than say in the other extreme a 6'5" person at 140lbs deadlifting 300lbs, even that...

[Article] Getting to know the squat - All you need to know about squatting.

I have a question regarding the flaw mentioned about knees caving in. You said that it's a sign of weak glutes leading to overpowering of the adductors. But for anyone who has read Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe, he discusses the cause of knees caving in as a sign of weak adductors and not...

Thanks for the links/brands guys. Was just wondering though why a higher DHA to EPA ratio is beneficial?

    About becoming a personal trainer

Wow interesting. I would have thought the US would have a bigger emphasis on certificate and education than us. Anyways i'll do some digging around, maybe ask my uni gym and one of my friend's who actually spent a summer doing a basic course to become a PT and maybe find out how much it costs...

    About becoming a personal trainer

Yeah i didn't want it as a career choice, but rather as a holiday/part time job that i would enjoy/have an interest in doing. If it requires qualifications however i am probably best pursuing another part time job. Would it be illegal though, for me to offer personal training without a...

    About becoming a personal trainer

Well if you put it that way, i guess i understand where you're coming from. It's just that when i go to my uni gym, i see some so-called personal trainers there that i honestly feel are wasting their clients time with random exercises, ludicrous rep ranges, and other things that i find blatantly...

    Nut butter!

^ as iron said don't roast them too long and keep a close eye on them unless you like eating charcoal. As far as a change in macros, I've read that roasting them for too long can cause hydrogenation of the unsaturated fats which is a bad thing, but i believe it requires high temperatures for...

    About becoming a personal trainer

Well it would if we payed you for your advice :D Well basic anatomy and functional anatomy-wise will be less trouble for me as i'm currently finishing off my 2nd year in medicine and programming-wise i was planning to just read books on the topic such as Practical Programming (which i've...

    Fish Oil

Interesting. Then what brands are considered "decent"? Would stuff like blackmore's be considered good quality? Or do you really have to get the practitioner brands that i've never heard of. By the way are all the fish oil capsules pretty much the same (1g of fish oil yielding 300mg of omega-3s...

    About becoming a personal trainer

Sorry i didn't mean to come off as a dick, but i have read the earlier posts and i saw that you mentioned being able to be a 'personal trainer' in victoria without a cert so i was wondering if this was the same for sydney. I ask because i know for a fact that i probably won't have the time to...

    About becoming a personal trainer

Could i just ask if anyone knows whether i need a cert to be a personal trainer at gyms in sydney? I was planning to maybe take it up as a part time job especially over the summer holidays (currently at uni student)? Or is it necessary (legality-wise) to have a cert to be a personal trainer in...

    Fish Oil

I know cheapest isn't always best, but within reasonable quality, why not just buy something that does the same job without having to pay a fair amount more for just the brand and maybe that extra 5% quality.

    Fish Oil

Pretty simple questions on fish oil. How much do you guys take, and what brands/types are you using? What's the "best bang for the buck" ie. cheapest for the greatest amount of omega-3s?

    Nut butter!

Heating does help the oils come out more. That's why roasting the peanuts before chucking them in the microprocessor is better than just putting them in raw.

    Weird thigh (quad) pain

Should i still be deadlifting? It's mainly groin pain so even a more narrow stanced squat seems to impact on it less.

Where'd you get the sugar free apple sauce? Just at the shops? Or did you make it yourself?
