Ok, back from hibernation. I've been training hard since the hammy tear healed, and was in the PTC HQ novice comp yesterday. Squat PB 165kg (previous comp pb 150, gym 162.5) BP - lets not go there. Nearly bombed, was blacking out at the top 1st and second attempts, sketchy 90kg third with 2...

Doc just advised rest the leg. Its already improving; but I'm still limping and not going to try for the comp next week (any serious flexion and its hurting). I'm in for the long game; it's funny though as I have never progressed past 180kg deadlift, and I was so going to beat that on...

Not the thread for it, but pulled right hammy nearing end of warmup deads last night - I was only setting up and building tension, then pop! Bar hadn't even left the floor. Hurt pretty bad so stopped. By the time I got home I was nearly in tears, thought it was a grade 2 strain. Doc sent me for...

    Beginners program

Hi mate, I'm also no spring chicken at 45yo, i find it easier to have two workouts per week ( mon squat, thurs dl/bench), 2 rest days after squat/leg day and 3 after DL/bench. I also rarely get enough time away from family commitments to train 3× a week. Im pretty much fully recovered by the...

I felt a twinge in left upper arm, decided to not push through it. If i get it off my chest i can normally get it home, but glad i didn't.

Tuesday I squatted 3x2 (doubles) 155kg. Rep PB Friday I managed 3x2 Deadlifts @ 180kg, Rep PB, equal outright PB and 2x body weight. I did DL 2x5 @ 150kg after the doubles, still feeling a little bit of DOMS. Practiced bench - failed a 97.5kg lift. :) End of the vid:

Nice. I'm aiming for DL doubles @ 180 this week. I set some sort of PB on sunday, I managed 4 single BPs @ 95kg (rerack, re-setup meet lift practice) , failed the 5th (no spotter! I never clip bench so lifted the right side of the bar and let it slide).Previous rep PB was 3x3 @ 90kg, I;d...

@Timeah Funny that, I was just having a chuckle at the thought that you long-time forum members may be a little tired of people coming in with spurts of progress, and then waiting for their first/next plateau. I'm nearly there! :p I have entered the PTC Sth Melbourne novice comp on Aug 12th, so...

Deadlift rep PB last night: 3×3 @ 175. (1rm is currently 180) Definitely feeling heavy, but the first reps came up fine, still a bit left in the tank.

Rep PB on squats last night: 3x3 @ 150kg. Felt heavy, but I'd only ever done 2x150 and 1 @ 160 before, period. Stronger than ever right now.

Timeah nice! I'm still dreaming of a 200kg dead. Although at 45yo (today!) and lifting for nearly four years, I'm happy with my progress

Timeah Currently 89-90. I think i could make a 62.5-65 press if i did a minimal warmup. Hope to be repping that in 6 weeks.

    Rep PB's continue: R.bb.sq 5×3 @ 140kg F.bb.sq 3×3 @ 100kg DL 5×3 @ 160kg (last week) I also had 330 on top of the sled n the leg press, that felt heavy.

My bench is sadly lacking; I've pressed 100kg once. Last program I finished on 3x3 @ 80, this week was week three and I hit 5x5 @ 75, so I'm improving. The four bench sets I captured are in the middle of this clip (the rep PB squats are at the start): I've been using the phone to video and...
