Went to gym for a year straight and then stopped due to sickness for 2months. Back at work and uni...my work/uni schedule is horribly messed up this year and the closest gym is 30mins away from me making it a 1hr trip there and back.
Therefore, I'm looking at buying gym equipment for home.
What are your ideal recommendations for a budget up to $1000?
squat stands for about $200-300 maybe cheaper second-hand
The rest of the $ on an oly bar and plates.
A couple of squares of salvage yard plywood for the floor
get a bench and fancy shit later on - do ohp, dips etc....learn how to dump a squat safely/don't do max squats without a couple of mates around
I wish I had got Olympic bar and weights to start with. Now I'm still buying standard weights, but the day will come when I'll need to make the switch.
This would be good, only $1,099 if you could do without a bench (maybe buy a cheap one off gumtree until you can get a better one). This comes with hi and low pulley and 200kg of Olympic rubber coated weights: http://m.ebay.com.au/itm?itemId=221364544204
I highly recommend paula @ little bloke she looked after me when I bought all my gear off her about 6 months ago I ended up with similar stuff that your looking at for a little over a gorilla give her a call 0435494428 tell her your budget and what your after and see what she can sought out
Nothing wrong with it. If you're a novice that will do you for your first year. Easy to add more plates later, and they weigh the same second hand as they do new.
If you haven't bought anything yet - I was in your position about a month ago, eBay and Gumtree are your friend. You can get some insane deals if your willing to be patient. However, I ended up going with this squat rack ($270 w/ discount code, including courier shipping) http://www.muscledepot.com.au/products/gym-equipment/squat-rack/ as I live pretty far out of the way and couldn't find anything, should last me a while, don't see myself getting up to a 250kg squat in the near future. Got all my plates from some bloke that was selling them for $1.70/kg for olympic (including two 25kg bumper plates!). Also got a sturdy adjustable bench for $60. I got an ABC bar, however that wasn't really out of necessity, a gymdirect/cyberfit one would be fine. The best overall package deal is this one from cyberfit, in my opinion http://www.cyber-market.com.au/cyberfit-power-rack-100kg-olympic-weight-flat-bench-p-591.html, and then getting your remaining plates through gumtree. Shipping could kill it though, depending on where your based.
