I've been offered the role from a company that specialises in engineering and mining, I'm unsure what to do. Currently in part time telesales.
strong hate for recruitment consultants in this thread
Shane, telesales sucks balls. lol
What do you feel you'd like to do?
And perhaps, I would suggest, and please take this with a grain of salt, I was only Director of Client Service for a Global Recruitment firm in Europe for 8 years () speak with the firm that has offered you the position?
Ask for a run down of the role description/expectations/duties/travel required (if any) wage structure and commission structure etc etc
Then make an informed decision for yourself.
Good luck!

They lie to the people they recruit why would they have any inclination to tell you the truth when offering you a job in their own organisation.
Given the state of the job market I think it would be easier to sell time share over the phone then jobs to people so skilled they only way they move is by direct poach from a major mining or enginewrong firm
Yeah you could be right Brick, the job market is definitely slow.
But not for mining or engineeringThose sectors are booming right now.
You're a happy chappy or lass if you're in mining or engineering right now, they seem to be the only sectors having actual ongoing growth while every other sector suffers huge blows.
It'll be interesting to watch over the coming months.
Telesales, IMO is one of the worst jobs in the entire world.
I'd rather clean toilets for a living, than do that job. lol
Your right about the boom part but tell me this if i am a engineer or geologist why am i gonna answer a recruiters ad when it is next to a direct hire ad for santos or xstrata. You wont the recruiters are bottom dwellers trying to pick up the scraps.
I stand by what i said earlier if your gonna be a salesman might as well something with a decent sized commission. Like property or heavy machinery.
I have been informed of all these details.strong hate for recruitment consultants in this thread

I have been informed of all these details.
I'm the type that needs to try something firstly to find out whether I'd like it. This job offers sponsorship too so therefore makes it all that bit more attractive for me having only arrived in the country 3 months ago on a working holiday visa.
I'm from Ireland.Interesting!
Well I have no idea about base wages currently on offer for recruiters, google it & have a look at tge average in Australia to see how your offer compares?
Where abouts are you from?
Do you want to stay in Australia?
Unfortunately careers aren't typically 'try before you buy' deals. If you've been made an offer & it appeals, you're comfortable with whats required & it's financially good, you grab it by the balls & give it a go?
Let us know your decision after wage comparisons? I'd be keen to hear the base/commission ratio too.
Good luck shane!![]()
What the average wage in this country?
I'm from Ireland.
Yes I'd love to stay here.
$55k plus commission, I can't remember what way the commission structure works. What the average wage in this country?
Would engineering and mining be one of the better industries to be in with regard to recruitment?
Bear in mind, I'm 25, masters degree educated but little working experience bar part time work that paid my rent and university fees.
