Cardio/Complex Leaderboard

Complexes are not really cardio. I consider them like 20 rep+ squats but with different exercises.

The Cosgrove Complex I did are just as hard as 20 reppers.

Give it a go.

these complexes take about 3 minutes. If you can't do something like that without getting seriously gassed (pending weight) then to me that is not a good balance of fitness. I want to be strong & fit.

It's not cant it's just don't want to. I really hate endurance stuff and avoid it as much as possible. In saying that pre season footy training is about to start so I'll have plenty of endurance stuff to worry about. Lol.

3 minutes surely can't be considered endurance! Especially if you play footy!

For me it's about what I want to achieve with my training. I am lifting weights for strength.

When it comes to getting fit for footy I run because that's what you do on the footy field. If we ever have to start doing barbell complexes during a game I will use them for my cardio.

In saying all this complexes are great if that's what your into.

If you don't feel screwed after a complex then you probably aren't working hard enough.

Just want to add I am not bashing complexes. I just hate them but depending on your goals they can be great.

For sure. And depends on if you are planning on doing more sets of the complex also.

Those ones I've done so far were relatively easy. Reason being, that it was the first time I've done them and just randomly picked a number to slap on the bar and have a go at. WIll only get tougher from here :D

Just for fun, did the Cosgrove evil 8.
Used 50kg and finished the round in 74 seconds.
Quads burned a bit as have not done leg training in 2-3 weeks.

I hadn't seen this page before. I had a go at the Bear Complex this afternoon. Might have a crack at the PTC#2 tomorrow.

The Bear was @ 100kg the Cosgrove @ 60kg. I think I could go 105/110 maybe on the Bear and 65/70 on the Cosgrove with some practice.

Have you tried the Shankle complex Pete?

Lovin' the little bit of Dimas sneaking through at 52sec of Evil 8 :D

I think I like the Klokov complex with the pause front squat and pause jerk. If I could pull that off with 120kg I'd be happy.

Going to give this a good old bump. I feel like doing some cardio so probably have a crack at the few I did a few months ago and see how much more I can do.
