Heya brothers.
One thing my friends in the states and I used to do was keep up on the sales. It gets expensive eating good and we all looked out for each other.
We would often split bulk orders of beef and give some away to the younger guys who were trying to grow on hamburger and tuna.
I am enjoying the Aussie animal proteins more than I can say.
I want to know what some of your ways of saving money are.
In the US we have places like Costco where we can get bulk for a good price.
Ill let someone whos a local start this thread out.

Where do you get a deal on chicken (boneless, skinless breasts/tenders)?
$11 per kilo isnt bad but someone prolly knows where a lowly immigrant can save a few bucks.
Thanks for reading.

head to the "Market butchers" i go to one in canberra and buy a whole rump , 8kg worth and works out to be $9 a kilo. i cut it up myself.. a big slab of porterhouse is about $13 a kilo.
the best i can find for chicken breast is $10/$11 a kg.

a few down your way head to the farmers markets.

Supermarket here always has chicken breast for $10. And has specials for $8

Mince is always pretty cheap

bought chicken breasts for $6 kg min 2 kgs. western fresh meats or tasman meats usually run that special and their other meats are cheap. Metro meats in braeside do good specials as does proud chic in chelsea heights but i haven't tried those yet.

Are any of these shops franchises or multiple locations? I dont know what the name of the big markets here except Coles, Woolworths and IGA. We have some smaller specialty meat markets here (Lakes Entrance) that Ive never checked for meat.
Thanks for all the replies, I hope to add to this thread soon.
Im a bit of a jew so Ill be aware of all the deals.

One of the butchers at the Belconnen fruit markets was selling chicken breast for $7.99k/g - I should have grabbed some when I had the chance.

Its around $12k/g @ Jindabyne atm.
