Do you guys test your 1 rep maximum much?

Do you test it to find out whats a good weight every now and again. To help you find your peak weight 70%-80% of max for lifts etc.

Unless you're a powerlifter, why do you want to know your 1RM ?
You could injure yourself too.
 
It's possible to work out your 1RM from your regular 5-8 reps. I forget when the formula is now, but I'll see if i can find it.
 
I used to do it when i was younger just for fun but haven't for years. I do not see the need really.
