Grade I muscle strains

How do you guys deal with minor muscle strains? I have a couple at the moment, and just wondered how you guys and gals rehab? In particular the minor grade I strains... am I wasting my money going to a physio? Would a couple weeks rest of the affected area suffice?

What about scar tissue... I always seem to have the same niggle come back. Latest example is a adductor strain that I had years ago when I played cricket has resurfaced after squats.

Appreciate any advice as phsyio's in WA charge like a wounded bull.

Grade 1 I'm assuming is just a niggle basically.

If I am playing footy I would take a few nurofen and ignore it.

If I am lifting weights I would still ignore it and just do exercises that don't activate it.

Most go away on their own but if it hangs around for a while see a Physio.

Rest and ice mate. As baz says, grade 1 is a niggle and usually means 1-2 weeks out of action.
Have you got private health cover?

Thank you gents. I'll keep up the ice and lay off the squats for a couple weeks.

Yup, I have private health insurance, but the gap is small. Pays for about a third per visit, but is quite a high cap.

Johnsnothere,
Grade 1 is just you growing, just kidding, as bazza and taurus said also there is one thing that helps heal tendons besides a needle.
Its called Arnica make sure to get the sunspirit range as there are some weak alternatives.
Sells at a chemist for around $10-15 dollars.
Helps repair of deep bruising and tendon repair.
For best results coat injury and wrap the injury in glad wrap overnight. for several nights.
Regards,

G.
