When I first got mine it was dead straight and I couldn't do it up. I rolled it up as tight as I could on itself and left it for a couple of weeks. That softened it enough so I could do it up. Other then that I reckon just wearing it will be the best.
I have the Iron Tanks 10mm lever belt, it's though as and would take ages to wear in, I only use it for some lifts I tighten it just before the lift and release the leaver straight after.
It's never going to be comfortable, but that's not the point of it.
