New barbell

Good morning everybody,

I have decided that it is time for a decent barbell. I have noticed a few different threads but I am having trouble finding them with the search (I am sure I am the problem...not the search function).

I will be mainly doing squats, deadlifts, rack pulls and not so much olympic lifting. I do not plan to drop my bar continually.

I prefer to lift with chalk and not straps as much as possible so i find knerling is helpful. I have noticed that on the cheaper bars I have (China bars) that the knerling is not very good or well placed. I just want to add that the cheaper bars have performed well for what I paid, but now that I am starting to get around the 200kg mark they are starting to struggle a bit.

Any suggestions?

Limited knowedge on bars, but have had a lot of exposure to ABC bars which are not that expensive and get good feedback from a lot of lifters.

Thanks Spartacus. I have noticed the ABC bars get a lot of good wraps on here. I read a while ago there is a bar BOP220..??? or something like that?

I can not seem to find that on the website.... perhaps I have the wrong one.

Their was also some stuff posted a while ago, possibly by Spritcha about a certain bar with a certain knerling which I can't seem to find but i remember it sounded good.

Yep, we sell the SportKraft power bar, we sell out as soon as we get them.

I out of all teh mid-range bars, I think ours is the only 29mm bar.

We just sent one up to Odell Manuel, he squatted 310kg for 5 reps with it.

ABC can be had for much less then advertised around the $430 mark + freight

How does the sportkraft power bar compare with the abc power bar?

The ABC are great bars, we have half a dozen of them at my gym.

There is no comparison though, these are the bars that are used at GPC worlds. Ive seen a guy bench 400kg with it.
