Prepping for my first comp!

"Discovery.com explains why people sit up and take notice when smelling salts (ammonia inhalants) are placed beneath their nose. Ammonium carbonate is mixed with perfume to create a stimulant. The ammonia fumes from the salts irritate the membranes of the nose and lungs, which triggers a reflex causing the muscles that control breathing to work faster. (this is how they relate to Weightlifting and Powerlifting HEAVY reps and sets!!)"

It's good fun too.

I would like gongi to explain why caffeine is anabolic as all my evidence points to the opposite (increased cortisol, decreased blood flow etc).

agree with what was said earlier about people worrying too much about the little things. i cant see having a can of red bull or a cup of coffee before lifting is going to dramatically effect your growth or anything like that. I myself usually have an energy drink before my gym day as "I" feel that it tends to get me up and going just that little bit and allows me to get into the zone, each to their own i say.

Now THAT is a problem, but having one during an 8 hour comp isnt

Anyone that needs a stimulant everyday to train has a poor diet, clearly.

If your eating every three hours, your blood sugar levels should be stable and the need for a stimulant shouldnt exist.

Very different at comps with a very long day of lifting, having a belly full of food is not a good idea

Point taken, i eat well so i prob should stop drinking them, its just your PPP takes it out of me Markos. Writing up a training log now with progress so you can check my diet there
