Strongman logs - best ones... And are they good for you?

I played with a strongman log in the shop today, $240 model, 30kg. Pressed 70kg all up for a double (didnt realise how heavy the log was). Felt allright, but I almost felt like my shoulder prefers the handle horizontal like it would be on an oly bar. The grip was a fixed width and felt OK but I think I've seen adjustable ones.

Do you have a log? Do you still use it or does it collect dust? Would you recommend buying one for a bit of variety?

It seemed like I could maybe press a bit more on one than I could military press cause it starts a bit higher on your chest cause of the diameter. I'm not sure it's as good on your shoulders though.

Love log. Its more front delt/tricep power to press. Good conditioning tool too when doing multiple clean and press for reps

I have a 10 inch log it weights 60-65kg empty. Its great. Its heaps of fun to use.

I press less on it than a bar due to the weight being more out in front of you.

The only reason I got one is because it looked fun and it is.

Where did you get yours from? (heavy log for empty 10")

Yeah I'd like one but I actually prefer the feel of military press for a serious exercise. I'd just be grabbing one for fun.... Probably will do eventually, wouldn't mind a real wooden one too.

They are one of the most fun pieces of kit you'll use. Reps from the floor flatten you. Highly recommended.

Yep. I don't do strongman and I am the only one that uses it. Totally unnecessary for my home gym but its one of my favorite bits of equipment. Don't regret getting one at all.
