If anyone has been thinking about lifting for the first time this will be a great competition to have a go. Its a fun day and a great introduction to powerlifting especially if you train by yourself. Don't be afraid to have a go we all had to start somewhere - if it makes you feel better at my first 3 lift comp I fell over backwards doing my first two attempts at the squat and couldn't even budge my opening deadlift (which should have been a dawdle) so I challenge anyone to do worse than that.
Would love to one day, but seeing as i have only been lifting since december last year, and have no idea what equipment I need and I would rather get my lifts up a bit first.

I first started training in late December 2008 and did my first comp in May 2009 where I fell over and couldn't budge my deadlift so don't worry mate it can't get worse than that.
As for equipment - you don't need anything. A soft suit is not necessary it just makes it easier for us to judge depth in the squat but it is not a requirement. It is a great day and you will meet and hey I might get flattened in the squat again and that is always good for a laugh

2. Competitions are a great way to track your progress and to give you something to train for. If you train alone or at home these comps are great way to gauge your progess and meet a bunch of guys who are just as crazy as you and who share the same obsession about lifting iron (whether its bodybuilding or strength - although I dont see a lot of difference between the two. I just think powerlifting makes us feel not so bad about having more relaxed muscle lol)
If you are not planning on competing we would love to have some people come down and help load and spot on the day. If you can come down and help could you please PM me. Thanks it would be very much appreciated
