Welcome, Seeking Ab Solution

Heya all - great to be here.

I'm in my early 40's, have done lots of cardio and light lifting over the years. Covid was a great excuse to take two years off routing exercise and it's time to get back in the game.

Looking to lose some extra kgs picked up over the last two years of relative inactivity and thicken up a bit.

Become muscle-centric, and fat will come off your body. Alternatively, focus on losing fat through dragged on cardio, a la jogging etc, and you will gain fat long term. It’s all about ratios, ratios between muscle and fat. Resistance training (not necessarily with external weights), is the best way to train if your goal is long term fat loss and muscle gains and/or maintenance. Sets of 20 rep squats come to mind, or body weight step ups onto a milk crate etc, works a ton of muscles, muscle fibers that play a huge role in blood sugar stabilisation/lower insulin levels, and a better hormonal profile overall, especially as we get older.

All power to you mate.
