What Is The Best Ab Training Routine?

EveryBody wants wash board abs , they wanna rip off their shirt and flash their 6pack to the world , make the girls go crazy ... Abs.

but the question everyone asks is

How do you go about gaining that ripped six-pack ? Hundreds of reps a day? How often should you work your abs?

What are the most effective ab training exercises?

Does nutrition play a role in it?
How long does it take to see results?

Do genetics play a role in getting washboard abs?

I find a good shag works my abs hard.
Needs to be high reps though, so it's not going to work well for many.

It's the only direct ab work I do consistently.

i have been lurking on these forums for probably 3 months now and have never seen a serious answer to this question, kinda sucks for people like me who wouldn't mind seeing a few genuine opinions on the subject.. :( lol

Hanging Leg Raises, Toe to bars/Toe to rings, Dragon Flags and Sidebends with 20kg plate.
Saturday is Abdominal day.
Still can't see Abs but I can feel them!

the thais do crunches but lock the leg either just behind the knee, Like over a ring rope, The lower down your calf the harder.

Aso roman twists, and planks are great for core.

Ab King Pro works wonders. Do it for 15 minutes a day and you will see guaranteed results or your money back.

There was a recent thread on abs with a shit load of serious answers they were just not the ones people expected or agreed with. If you want to see your abs lose some body fat until they are visible. If you want bigger abs work on big heavy lifts and use direct ab work to correct imbalances/strength deficits in your posture.

i havnt done ab work till now, been bodybuilding for 1.5 years full time and now that im dieting im seeing my abs but also starting ab work now being 25 weeks out from my first comp. i do rope crunches and dumbell twists for my obliques(spelling) seems to work well.never saw my abs, never started with abs but deadlifts and getting on and off the bench for 1.5 years with heavy dumbells seemed to do something :-)

excellent response dave :) sounds about right !

Crunches for upper abs
Reverse crunches or leg raises for the lower abs
Side crunches for intercostals and serratus
Side bends for obliques

3 sets of 20 each

Total ab workout - now get crackin' ;)

i hope your joking shrek

no kidding but i'm sure you can understand what i am talking about now..

shrek posts what seems like (to me) a genuine abs workout and then the first response is "you're doing it wrong" or something to that effect...................
