2012 Cox plate

looks even race this year.

I may chance my money on More Joyous, even from wide barrier. If she gets cheap early sectionals should figure in places at good each way odds.

Destroyed them over 2000m ealry this year, and ran a good 5th behind champ So You Think in 2010 Cos plate when leading. She looks much stronger this year, and ran a good race when caught wide last start (although was fortunate to back winner with much less weight).

Never sure how to line up 3 years olds with their postage stamp weights.

Any thoughts?

Does look a decent race, but history says says only two 3yo have won the Cox plate in the lats 10years, one of those was So You Think in 2009...So i am no very keen on Pierro or All To Hard even with their low weights.

More Joyous although did win over 2000 it was in Syndety with the sydney way of going, she doesn t quite like going the Melbourne way of racing as much and Mooney Vally can be a tricky track and just makes things worse from barrier 11.

My money is going to be on Ocean Park which i think is travelling perfectly and has been set for this, beat Alcopop in the Caulfield Stakes over 2000m who went on to almost win the Caulfield Cup, only beaten by an awesome distance running in Dunaden so i think that form is pretty strong.

Next would be Green Moon was fantastic winning the Turnbull and loves the 2000m trip running it 6 times for 4 wins and a 2nd.

yes, green moon looks a good chance.

However, in what i think is a hard race to pick this year, i tend to go for value.

I think this year there are 5-6 chances. Include 2 three year olds.

I still think More Joyous will hard to beat if it becomes a sprint home after early cheap sectionals. She ran 4.5 lengths behind so you think at his peak, and zipping 2nd, but this year's field much weaker.

If it is a fast race, she will probably have no chance. I am also having small bet on Shoot out at $26 in case it becomes a tough race.

2012 Cox Plate results
First: Ocean Park
Second: All Too Hard
Third: Pierro
Fourth: Ethiopia

Was all over Ocean Park as per earlier post, and was loving it that he wasn't really mentioned in the lead up so the odds stayed reasonable, the 3yo's did surprise me in their staying ability but Ocean park just had a great run and could sit right off the pace and get a nice trail into the race.

Much better today than last night when I back d Avery diappionting Buffering....

Ah well, next week is the best race day of the year, all group races at Flemington for derby day....

crap day for me, but looked hard before.

Boss is a genius at times when he is sure about a horse.

Bring on VRC carnival and may we all win. Derby day is best race day of year, but can also be quite hard.

6.00 was only on the tote, go with the corporate bookmakers and they generally pay the best of 3 totes, so i ended up getting 6.60.

I was betting with my punting club and we always go tote. Should switch over to sportsbet or centrebet. I keep getting emails from Tom Waterhouse and claims to have the best odds too, though I thought the best was at $6.50.

Anyway, who cares a win is a win.

I have accounts everywhere and keep switching the money between them, some of them have great deals, like free bets if you pick the inner of a group. 1 race with luxbet, I think centrebet have double odds on selected races which is pretty bloody good, but yeah a win is a win
