Lab testing of protein powder is now FREE!

Free Lab Testing of your protein.

Over the past 6 months there have been some interesting findings in the Supplement Industry.

Unfortunately it is now clear that you don’t always get what you pay for.

Some products have proved to be right on spec, while others way under, and there is actually quite a bit in between. Whether its Australian products or U.S made products, there is a lot of variety and the only sure thing is that you can’t always rely on a label claim.

With effort we’ve put into the Reagent kits lately, we’ve been the central contact place for all of these discussions, and while some companies have gone from good to bad (thankfully), we were reminded just last week (from two different companies products), that there is still some pretty under dosed product on the market. It did all look a bit familiar, but we’ll leave that discussion for another day…….

Some brands are obviously linked, however many are clearly not, so issues exist from multiple places.

If you want your protein lab tested, simply contact us at proteintestingkit@bulknutrients.com.au

Fill out a form we supply and send the protein with the paperwork directly to NMI Laboratories (we’ll shoot you these details). You only pay for the postage to get them there, and only need to sacrifice 30g of each protein bag.

A few weeks later you’ll get the results from NMI. That way you will know exactly what you are buying. What you do from there is up to you, however without this information you will simply never know what you are paying for.

If you get shonky protein, we’d recommend you contact The ACCC as well as your local legislator, however that will be up to you. If nothing else you can contact your supplier and get a refund, while warning your friends what not to buy.

If you get good results, then you can use this as a positive endorsement for the company you buy from, so everyone wins – well those doing the right thing anyway.

Everyone is welcome to these tests, even those who have already requested our Reagent kits. If you have had a product fail a Reagent test, this would be a good way to secure a refund (as we have found the Reagent kits to be very accurate), however we’d encourage those who have bought all kinds of products to have them tested, in time hopefully the whole market will be scanned.

By making it as easy as possible for lab testing to occur, we hope that to create a more honest marketplace, which is starting to happen, and in turn create an environment for open communication for such issues. Please note we can’t have every product lab tested but we will do our best to ensure as many people’s products can be tested as possible. If a product has been tested many times, we may decline your test, but we will let you know the results that others have had, so you won’t be in the dark.

It’ll be great to see a spectrum of U.S brands particularly, as we haven’t seen a lot of that so far.

The benefit for us is that the public will be creating a clear log and time line of products and testing, and while we pay for the tests, it means we don’t have to employ any lawyers etc to do any testing on our behalf.

Finally, if it isn’t obvious by now, we recommend caution when printing lab tests on a message forum. While it is completely legal, you and the forum owner will obviously get some heat from disgruntled parties.

We know this isn’t a perfect plan and it isn’t one that by itself will fix all the issues, but by making it as simple and cost free as possible, it sure should help the situation.

To organise your lab test, simply email us at proteintestingkit@bulknutrients.com.au

Regards,

Bulk Nutrients.

Just curious. Who receives the results as it is your details listed on the nmi form. The only details of mine they have are on the back of the envelope I sent it in.

Both your email address and ours will be on the lab report, so we'll receive them at the same time.

We tried to organise tests through NMI for someone a few weeks back where we pay the bill and all other details are theirs (which is fair given everything would come from them).

Unfortunately, unless you're paying the bill yourself - which is a huge pain in the arse without an account, as it involves quoting, pre payment, much more paperwork and a min $270, it's not possible to only have the customers email address.

Having an account as we do, makes it so much easier and for the purpose of public testing, they've reduced the minimum cost for us, makes it worthwhile even getting two tests done, whereas before it was 5 or more.

FYI, we'll be asking everyone to sign their form and the lab will hold all samples after testing indefinitely. This protects the consumer if there are any arguments as it is evidence they sent them in.

Interesting....on there fb today...

Guys, the protein-n-more website officially closes at 8pm today.... We still have some stock left but once it's gone, it's gone. But at 8pm....that's it.... Closed for good.
All the stock listed on the site is sitting on the shelf waiting to go into a satchel and be picked up by the courier at 4pm Tuesday.
All power nutrients stock must go.
Get in now before it's too late!

Better to bail than continue. :O

Yeah thats crazy they're closing up shop.. They supplied a few other companies from what I know which I'm guessing will no longer have product. Where is NBS gonna go from here I wonder....Interesting times.

Yeah NB will need another supplier.
Would not surprise if PnM resurfaces with another name.

Yeah thats true this is a few other comments on there fb. A couple since have been deleted I note since first time I looked. If they pop up as a new brand on the market people will pick it straight away there are only so many aussie companies online that sell 10 different flavours.

  • Power Supplements Sean, we have secured something mate, don't be concerned, our flavours will continue.... More shortly

Just like the dodgey pirated DVD and counterfeit sunglasses and clothing places you see at markets, when they get busted they shut up shop and open under a different name 3 weeks later.....

Is the complete survey of results going to be available to be publicly available?

Hi Riddles,

It's important to note that the results are your results.
What you do with them is up to you. You can make them public and inform others of who is good and who is bad or keep to yourself.

These are your test results.

I'd just like to say thanks for everything Bulk Nutrients. The help towards the consumer during this protein war is outstanding, especially considering a lot of the people weren't even customers of yours.

Keep up the great work. :)

That does not seem correct according to what you initially said.

You said that Bulk Nutrients gets a copy of all the results as well, so they aren't really 'our' results but yours as well to do with what you want. That means BN will end up with a bunch of data from different companies, proteins and batches. While of course one result from one product of one batch from one supplier it's certainly worrying, it's the trends that are much more interesting and relevant.

You have only said that you will share results if someone's request for a test is declined due to others being done on the same product (and presumable the same batch). I want to see all the results.

So I will ask again with added emphasis (but now with correct English)...

Is the complete survey of results going to be publicly available?

They are paying for it, only seems fair they get a copy of what they are paying for.
