Gym in Melbourne with reverse hyper

Fair point, I'll give them a call before I rule it out completely. I'm an ex-ex phys myself, so I'd be interested to hear what their approach is. At the moment I'm not overly concerned with strength, I just want to get healthy and be able to train without pain. I figure if I can do that, the...

Gym in Melbourne with reverse hyper

Yep, that's what I mean. Thanks for the heads up on those gyms. Sadly the PTCs are too far out of the way for me to get to them regularly, and from the look of Elite Sports Performance it's not somewhere I could train these days. Too many injuries that I need to cater for.

Gym in Melbourne with reverse hyper

Anyone know of a gym in Melbourne that has a proper reverse hyper machine? Close to the CBD would be ideal. I've been struggling with my lower back for a couple of years and would love to give reverse hypers a go. I train at fitness first at the moment and there's a GHR at the ones I go to...

Chris Duffin - How to Squat

    Excellent video, thanks for posting!

    input on this routine

I'll offer a conservative opinion and say it could be worth finding out more about your injuries before worrying about squatting and deadlifting. Soft tissue with no blood supply (e.g. a torn labrum) isn't going to fix itself.

My Deadlift Needs Help. Criticise me?

Don't know your circumstances but if it's a better place to train, with serious lifters, is 40 minutes really that long? Too far to go once a week for a couple of months? Meet up with some guys training there, get your deadlift up. Seeing and experiencing the way they train could make a big...

Derek Poundstone 700lbs Squat Fail and Injury

Painful to watch given I've been through a similar situation, but it's great to see those safety straps doing their job. That could've been a whole lot worse.

My Deadlift Needs Help. Criticise me?

A few random questions/comments: - Is strength a priority for you? - Why so many high rep sets? I had a quick look through your log and saw lots of sets over 5. - Are you one of the stronger guys in your gym? - Can you get to a gym that has people lifting big weights? Exposure to serious...

So am I just a pussy?

The size of the handle, the size of your hands, the condition of your skin and the type of exercise can all come into it. Take something like a farmers walk, where grip can be a limiting factor. Setting the handles higher in your hand will give you a stronger grip. Your hand can be in a more...

The 2015 Arnold Strongman Classic - Looking Ahead

Cool, should be interesting to see who wins. On this weekend yeah?

    Torn callouses

Prevention... Use a razor to shave them down and a pumice stone to smooth them out. If you do tear one, use some nail scissors to trim any loose skin then put some friar's balsam on the wound. It'll hurt like a mother fucker but it seems to work. Bandaid and/or tape over the wound while you're...

    Wrist wraps

Cool, thanks guys. Went with the Inzer Iron Z 20" straps from Loaded Lifting. UGE were cheaper by about $5 but didn't have stock and I didn't get a response from them about availability. Pretty damn expensive at $55 delivered. I need to stop leaving shit behind at the gym.

    Right... thanks.

    Wrist wraps

Thanks! I'd forgotten about underground elite. Kinda gave up on aussie supplies a few years after I got stung by strengthsupplies and heard bad things about others. Are the Iron Z and THP wraps particularly stiff/tight? In my head I associate them with serious, heavy lifting and powerlifting...

    Wrist wraps

What are people using for wrist wraps? I'm carrying an injury in my left wrist that means I need to use wraps for pretty much everything. I was using 12" Titan titanium wraps for years but left them behind at the gym last year. I switched to my backup - 12" APT black mambas, but forgot them...

    Farmers Walk

Bit of trivia for you, in case you or others haven't come across this before. There's a group called the International All Round Weightlifting Association (IAWA) that runs contests for all sorts of unusual lifts. E.g. Single hand deadlift, steinborn lift, zercher lift, strict curl.. all sorts of...

    Favourite back workout

I do them off the back of a bench, just change the incline of the bench until it's at the right height. I think it's inconsiderate to do them off the dumbbell rack. If you do them there then you're in the way and people can't access the rack.

    Favourite back workout

For those who have a back day, what are some of your favourite workouts? I've got my ideas but I'd like to see what other people do. I try to put a session together that looks something like this: Deadlift variation: conventional, sumo, trap bar or rack pulls Power movement: power cleans...
