Brisbane IPF

And the Ugly

New member
I'm sure he's too modest to do it himself, but I just wanted to say that El Freako
competed in his first amateur powerlifting comp today, the Brisbane IPF held at Jindalee Fitness First.

Great day, 20 lifters. 12 raw and 8 equipped.

Freako competed in the 93kg class and took first place. Massive effort and big props to him for a committed effort. There was some seriously good competition there and even though not every lift went his way he powered on.

Congratulations mate.

I'll leave it up to him to tell all the details. He's currently getting drunk on steak and beer.

I actually wrote out a little essay of a meet report but accidentally deleted it so I'm sulking and not re-writing it yet.

Results of the day, first in my weight division (out of 6) and 3rd overall by Wilks (including equipped). I bombed all my 3rd attempts but walked away with 210/145/240 totalling 595 and a 380.68 Wilks, no PRs, not awesome but solid considering I weighed in at 89.6kg on the morning which is 6kgs less than when I made all my previous bests. I probably lost too much weight to be honest but at least I learned a bit about cutting weight. I think I'm going to aim for a lean gain before the next comp.

Overall an awesome day, a good learning experience and met some great fellow lifters too. I'll have a vid up when my bro-in-law sends me the squat vids he took.
Extra big thanks go to my little cheer squat including The Ugly and his wife. You'll hear them in the vids.
